Gaga method acting as Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix...

Am I the only one who is already anticipating the crazy things going on in her head while playing a psychiatrist who has to fall in love with a clown terrorist? Knowing Gaga, she probably needs to find the most convincing ways to make herself believe that she could genuinely empathise with and love Joker. Given how the original was a psychological thriller, I think the sequel will need to inherit the original's emphasis on the psychological genre (even if it's a musical) and will be nothing like the light-hearted, action-focused Harley Quinn that Margot Robbie portrays.

I also think that working with someone like Joaquin will challenge her in a way that Bradley and Adam or anyone from AHS haven't before. I find Joaquin to be an immensely talented but unconventional persona, and it will probably be a highly challenging artistic experience to work with him and given how sensitive Gaga is to acting itself, pairing her with Joaquin in a dramatic movie about clown terrorists will probably just do crazy things to her mind. Perhaps in a good way, at least I hope so.

Don't get me wrong, I find this incredibly exciting and I cannot wait to see the chemistry they will share with each other. I'm also not saying that Gaga won't be able to pull it off, she's one of the most resilient and strong-minded artists in the industry, I have a lot of faith in her. I'm just very curious how she feels about it, and what will exactly happen when the time comes for her to inhabit the role, and how long the experience of acting (or "living" as she says it) as Quinn will linger in her after the shoot.

Thoughts?

I agree. I’m excited to see just how far this will go. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about it being a superhero movie, but JOKER was far from that, and won Oscars. Mix that with the commentary it’s trying to provide, and it seems to be exactly the type of film Gaga  would do.

am i the only one that thinks Gaga trolls and exaggerates her method acting?

honestly i am not even that convinced she really method acts.

i am 100% sure she is well aware of how well it played during ASIB to say weird things during press tour and now she is just trying to be eccentric just to make people talk and create buzz.

she will be fineeee.

Theres this misconception or idea/myth that method acting means ull be as great as Brando, and that saying it in interviews will get some ooh and aahs and wow, talent! But to me you don't need to method act all the single time, it's even a bit dangerous and unnecessary :/

I hope that she tones it down for the promo and let the acting speak for itself.

Yes, but Gaga has never professed that her choosing method acting necessarily makes her superior to those actors who don't. She said that it was her choice because she felt it facilitated her in doing her job. People (not you) seem to like to criticise her and those like Jared Leto for doing it, but I don't think these actors choose it to seem impressive. They choose it because they like immersing themselves in that way. The internet can be way too harsh on method actors sometimes.

Method acting started as a new innovation by Lee Strasberg to make your acting more realistic, and i feel there's been a switch where because some actors have gotten praise for a transformation. I don't think it was supposed to be used for every single role either :poot:

I'm not sure how different Harley is in this Joker to Margot Robbie's Harley but I'm lowkey excited for a scene like this

I am just not ready for another press tour disaster after the HoG experience. I loved the ASIB press tour, the execution was a complete success. There's no nicer way to say this, but I hope she checks the pretentiousness at the door before she gives her interviews.

Even as a fan, I personally found it overbearing how she was trying to sell her acting in interviews instead of letting the work speak for itself.

No lie the Marry The Night video kinda portrays how perfect she is for this role. The vibe is very much what I would expect from the movie on her part but darker

Arthur was pretty easy to empathize with in the first film though if I'm honest. A mentally ill man whose needs aren't met 'cause of an uncaring society? Lived a life of lies? Suffered abuse? Hated the rich? Might as well put me in the next one tbh :gayhat:

But seriously, that's why I think this could work out. The psychological aspect of it all :bradley: it fits Gaga like a glove.
