“when i was a child i actually was obsessed with harley quinn. i had her posters all over my room. the first song i learned on the piano was a song about her actually. after my tour a couple years ago, the chromatica ball, i made them lock me in a basement in the middle of nowhere and force me to be alone with nothing but my thoughts. a private chef brought me food every day, and my meditation guide came every day, but other than that it was me in a room, losing my mind, becoming harley. oh my dogs were there too. anyway, see jimmy i believe in a thing called alchemy…”

REALITY

After sitting on it and thinking about it for the last couple of hours, I think if done right, this could actually be genius. A big thematic part of the first movie was that whenever Arthur/Joker felt "liberated", he would dance. Two of the most iconic scenes in the movie are just that: the scene right after he kills the 3 guys on the subway and dances to himself in a bathroom, and the stairwell scene right after he puts on all the make-up and his suit.

The first movie was largely an origin story, so we saw an evolution from Arthur --> Joker. Now that Joker is established, we could expore how his psychology works from his point of view. In the first movie, we got some glimpses of that, but a lot of the movie was based on external things being done to him. If this movie takes us through Joker's POV, I can see the musical thing working. You could build on some of those "dance" sequences in the first movie by making them musical moments. We already know he has hallucinations (as we saw in the first movie), so if you just take up a notch as he descends more and more into becoming "Joker," I could see musical moments being appropriately fit during some parts of the movie.

I'm still nervous about it all, but I doubt that this movie will be a full-on musical. And I trust Joaquin Phoenix in the sense that he never does sequels or franchises, so for him to return, the script must be really good.

RAMROD

It is also a very alpha move of Gaga to steal away signature role from someone who she considered as boring before :lmao: :lmao:

"Hey Margot, lemme show you how it's done!"  type of thing :poot:

I was just reminded by the Deadline article that Todd Phillips produced A Star Is Born. I seriously wonder if he wrote this role with her in mind. It's definitely hers. Joaquin hasm't even signed yet. So, that is why things are still tentative. Also explains why the insider knew months ago even though she is not signed. I think this role was literally made for her.

T H I S! This is exactly what I was thinking the moment I saw the word musical. Even slightly before I considered it but now it just feels like they have been working on this for a while. Gaga, Bradley, & Todd along with other key players have probably been formulating this with Warner Brothers. I couldn’t be more excited.

3cFilms is one of the best people out there on YouTube doing movie news and updates! Super open minded and ALWAYS on top of it.

This honestly sounds amazing.

A dark psychological thriller set in  Arkham Asylum, where the workers and inmates break into song. I'm imagining a cross between Chicago and Dancer In The Dark.

Absolutely, the musical is a good way to portray madness, i mean  really new but yeah. It Will probably not be too hard on it. itll probably just Augment some strange scenes. Joker as a musical isnt very strange, its a tradition for the character. I expect more of a whiplash or Birdman in termos of style but with some more tradicional musical elements how we have in freakshow or the second season of horror show for example
