Oh holy **** I really hope this isn't true, what an awful idea. 

It really won't help Gaga to be part of this and the fanbase will ****ing eat her alive for thinking maybe her casting had something to do with the vision to change it to a musical. 

Was hoping it would just be a raw, disturbing account of the characters' mental health issues.

Honestly. It's obviously that Todd doesn't a give a **** about the fans of DC Comics.

The first movie depicted a completely different character. It was Joker in-name only. That's one of the reasons I hated it. 

If he thinks pushing the character even further from the source material into a musical will win him and Joaquin another Oscar, he 100% will, DC fans be damned.

Maybe?? But even then, I feel like making it musical, at any capacity, gives the film a sense of campiness that I don't know it necessarily needs. Like, the first film was so good (imo) because it was very realistic and you lost almost any sort of "comic book-y" influences. It was really just a character study and a commentary on how society treats the poor & mentally ill.

I'm not opposed to the idea of a campy musical Joker movie where Joaquin Phoenix stars as Joker and Gaga stars as Harley Quinn, but I think it becomes a problem when it feels so far removed from the universe that they've already established with the first movie.

Why the hell isn't Gaga playing ZATANNA, an Italian character who has never been depicted in live action before, with magical powers similar to Scarlet Witch.
