Haus Labs Relaunch Event in Los Angeles -- An Experience

 

 

Evolving and adapting is the first step to thriving, and the Haus Labs cosmetics brand is turning over a fresh new page. In an exclusive partnership with Sephora,  Haus Labs By Lady Gaga is redefining makeup ingredients and what it means to be conscientiously clean in the industry, with well over 70 new products that debuted Thursday night online and in 25 select Sephora stores.

To celebrate this beautiful reinvention,  the Century City Westfield Sephora in Los Angeles was chosen to be the site of an epic launch party! Let's check out what it was like to be there in the thick of the supercharged clean artistry.

Fans began arriving in the early morning hours outside of the Westfield Century City shopping mall. Luckily, I was one of them.  At 6 am sharp, the Sephora workers started lining us up in order of our numbers in front of the store. Beautiful 7 foot tall face shots of our multitalented Queen were hung high in the windows.

 

 

 

The Haus Labs team were very conscientious of how early it was and they kindly brought everyone in line a Sunlife Oatmilk Matcha latte to give everyone a refreshing boost. The hype only increased when LG tweeted about coming to a specific Sephora in LA... the crowd was delighted, we already knew it could be no other mall but here! We soon saw employees begin to board up the tall windows with giant panes of white cardboard, fully masking the inside of the store...... or so they thought. Intentionally or not, a cardboard pane buckled away from the window and revealed about 6 inches of the room inside.... and eagle eyed fans could see a stunning Gaga inside in a long cream suit and long blonde hair on her phone as she shot her promo videos for Sephora's socials.

 

Some of us squealed. But we largely remained calm as no one wants to start pandemonium. The silent security guards noticed and tensed. Someone posted to social media.

Gaga came out waving to us and smiling, holding a little petite Sephora bag with makeup inside as she greeted us. She told us she loved us and even reached out and held my hand as she smiled at my friends and everyone in the line. It was a really unexpected happy moment!

Her gorgeous hair was styled by a last minute visit from Freddie Aspiras. Check out that hair flip!

She then made her way to a preset spot on the floor where she posed for some standalone shots and gave a small speech to us about the mission of the brand and how much she loved us, gently schooling us on the main principles of the SUPERCHARGED, CLEAN, ARTISTRY! 

 

Instant memeable classic:

She turned and was gone in a flash, waving goodbye to the crowd. She was off to go give the Sephora Instagram Live special about the the new Haus Labs products! You can watch it here:

 

Right away we were brought inside the store to explore the enticing set ups. There were 2 specific Gondola staging areas with multiple makeup mirrors and the entire line of makeup spread out beautifully under each one. You could pick and choose any color you liked to start a look, complete with safe antiseptic wipes and tester brushes. There were Sephora and Haus Labs employees on hand to give mini makeovers in eyes, lips, or face.  Check out this eyework on Vivi!

I tried each facial zone and the textures and application went on very easily and smoothly without feeling powdery at all. I was helped greatly by the sheer expertise of my Haus Labs makeup artist, Ahn. Just as I had done at the previous Haus Labs launch in 2019, I asked her lots nerdy questions about how the makeup worked and she was very patient with me, showing me how easily the makeup goes on and comes off and blends with the other products. You have approximately 10 seconds of time where you can blend the liners and the paints before they "set" in place. The addition of the lip oils adds a nice way to ever so thinly gloss the Le Monster lip crayon after you set in place on your lips. 

If your face is sensitive, the brushes on the eco eyeliner are so soft that with the right pressure you barely feel it going on, even in the eye area.

The sheer overall bravery and enthusiasm of the Haus Labs' founder goes a long way here, and just as with the previous incarnations of Haus Labs, the entire brand and message is very welcoming to the timid. Across the brightly lit mirrors was a lovely decal reading, "We're Not Serving Looks --- We're Serving Self Love!"

 

While in the store, Gaga signed her name IMPECCABLY:

 

 

The decal distilled the essence of this colorful reality. Everyone here is radically dedicated to self love and showing others the light of self love. And just as Gaga said earlier, this time around, it's clean, artistic, and innovative in it's field.  

All around us, the customers and fans were coming in and checking out the awesome selection of new Haus Labs.  Look at how vibrant and colorful!

 

The staging and placement was killer:

Gaga joined the entire staff of Sephora earlier in the day to shoot this epic shot:

The overwhelming feeling in the store throughout the day was the welcoming vibe of inclusivity. Everyone wanted to ensure everyone else was having a good time. The Sephora and Haus Labs teams were patient and kind with everyone there, and continued to offer waters, makeup experiences, and mini photo shoots against the HL backdrops.

The makeup itself represents a complete switch, literally from black (the older Haus Labs 1.0 style from 2019) to white, crisp teal and silver chrome (Haus Labs 2.0 as we currently know it.) So much care has been taken with the new Haus Labs.  The team has put safety and cleanliness first without sacrificing functionality and aesthetic -- over 2,700 ingredients that could've be considered harmful or artificially non-beneficial are NOT used in this new line.  This in itself is trailblazing --- Gaga explained in the IG Live that there is currently no global standard for clean toxin-free beauty products. She set out to change that with the new HL line. Graphites and talc have been removed, and plastic particulate and phthalates are mercifully absent too. Even the packages are biodegradable for the time when you use it all up.

 

 

 

All in all, there are literally thousands of new clean reasons to love Haus Labs now! Supercharged, clean, artistry --- powered by the innovative genius that is Lady Gaga. There is nothing that this woman cannot do.

If you are missing the older products, don't fret. From what I could gather, the colors themselves will be preserved and eventually reincarnated in future Haus Labs launches. The team knows how much the older products are loved and they are factoring our requests into the future over time. 

Fans and patrons walked away not only with a great memory of the experience, but the new makeup itself to craft a beautiful future. Haus Labs by Lady Gaga is really peak empowerment for all!

The packaging is really cool, even the eyeliner tubes are biodegradable.  So it will be interesting to see in 10 or 15 years what it will be like. Probably can't keep these long term.
