Yeah, it's a very popular narrative - if there's anything I learned living in a conservative russian family when I was a kid, it's that they really like to think of themselves as noble people who are constantly being taken advantage of by other nations who deeply envy russian people because they are just so strong and noble, while everyone else is seen as weak or incompetent... And everyone just keeps taking advantage of their kindness and at some point russians will just have to start taking back what is 'theirs'...

I'm pretty sure this is why I have such a strong aversion to patriotism - when I was growing up, I had to constantly hear 'this nationality are all cowards', 'that nationality are all idiots', and even as a kid when I'd try and push back and explain that they can't say that about an entire nation of people, they'd straight up scold me for not taking pride for 'having russian blood'
