Economy 52,842
https://www.firstpost.com/world/explained-what-does-it-mean-for-the-world-as-china-sees-population-shrinking-for-the-first-time-in-60-years-10738211.html China's Population shrank in 2021 for the first time in 6 decades since the great famine of 1959 to 1961 killed many via hunger China's birth rates continue to drop like a stone despite the Government abandoning 1 child per couple rule years ago. Couples are voluntarily choosing to continue to have small families to prioritize careers instead in addition to reducing pressures over rising cost of living China's Population is forecast to drop from over 1.4 Billion now to less than 700 million by 2100 or in other words it will be cut by more than half over the next 80 years. The age shift imbalance in fact is forecast to be so extreme that there will be more elderly than working age population in a few decades, a very difficult strain on any society Currently birth rates in China have dropped below even other highly aged societies including Japan, Germany, Italy, Greece and Portugal at 1.15 children per woman

However if my circumstances were not ideal for a child I still won't have one despite liking the idea of one.

But its always been one of my dreams and not necessarily for a legacy or wtv but this need to love a child unconditionally I cant stop this feeling and Ive tried but isnt it interesting that our generation doesn’t want kids as much as the older ones

Now people realize that it's not true, there are people who want children and there are people who would hate having children, and it's great. But before, a lot of people who were just not made to have children felt forced to have them anyway because society told them so, and I think it led to many children growing without the love/support they would have had with people actually wanting to be parents. No way I could see myself as a parent any time soon tbh. Whimsical bitch

I'm 34 in a week and cannot think of anything I want LESS than a child! A mouth to feed, a responsibility to have? A drain on my personal finances? A thief of my daylight hours? No thanks. I'm much more at ease knowing I'm living my life, not spending it preparing someone to live theirs (who will repeat their cycle so nobody ever actually gets beyond preparing) Plus, kids give me the same feeling in my stomach & spine as Aeroplane turbulence. China is the world's biggest polluter, and any reduction in their population is a positive.

That freedom that a lot of straight people so crave and envious of us. Like, whenever attending a wedding banquet, or any social gatherings really, we will not be bothered by boring question like, "do you have kids yet?" To each their own, but I will never understand purely gay men, (not bi, curious, pan, or fluid), couples who adopt and throw those freedom away and choose to be heteronormative as if a family is not complete without kids in the house. I could potentially understand adopting an older kid YEARS down the road. MAYBE. But even then...idk, I love my independence too much Whimsical bitch
SevenWonder 4,743
Good. It will be tricky as the population ages for sure. But it's a correction that the world needs desperately.

The average Chinese person has way less footprint than a typical 1st world Nation Just because developing Countries have taken over some of our manufacturing industries and produce the goods for us instead of us doesn't change the fact that the developed world is still the consumption monster that ultimately leads to "pollution"

I wonder if there's temporary pandemic trends there that may temporarily reverse cuz even in 2019 the birth rate in India was still 2.2 children per woman Anyway in India's case because the population is on average younger even if the birth rates stay below the replacement level it will still be decades most likely before the population starts to decline. India will definitely pass China for sure and grow for years to come

Yes, and that’s not even taking account the fact they’ve outsouced all their dirtiest work to developing countries. They literally pollute more than anyone else simply by living their lavish lifestyle like it’s owed to them. So it’s ****ing rich when these closeted white supremacists want to bitch about poorer countries polluting the planet like they themselves haven’t been doing that for a century longer. You’ve reaped all the benefits by pushing the planet past the point of no return and now you are demanding your former colonial subjects to stop improving their quality of life and eat grass? Well **** that.
