Emvee 8,236
I didn’t expect the song to be hit after hearing it and I’ll be very surprised it it takes off. I also didn’t expect Shallow to be a hit either, but the song essentially went viral once the trailer dropped. My brother even commented it on it. Not sure that same thing is happening with HMH

memomemome 1,478
The thing is that the one that watched Top Gun in the first weeks is the one that might actually have watched the first one / 40+ years demographic, which is not the primary consumer of the music. which may reflect from the lack of streaming chart. Because some hesitant because "well, I haven't watched the first one, can I watch Maverick?" Let's say we compare it with, idk, Stranger Things maybe which Kate Bush song got imminent effect on the chart. (And which demographic is actually the main music consumer) I'd say wait a few weeks while the movie had its word-of-mouth effect & reached younger generations... It had terrific response movie-wise critically and mainstream appeal. I mean, the soundtrack performance is pretty decent chart-wise, and Shazam is still rising. Heck even take my breath away peaked 6 months after movie release. Takes time to enter GPs consciousness. And I see why they don't want to push too soon with the playlisting etc.

At this point I just want the justice to be made for the song during the awards season

Oriane 20,690
People liked Shallow (and the rest of the songs) because it reminded them of the movie, the story, the characters, that had grown on them while they were watching. I can't imagine Top Gun having the same effect, people came to see some action with planes. The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic! OMF 3,414
Hit or not, it can still lead to more awards for Gaga. The fact she is credited for the official score of the film makes the song itself just the icing on the cake. It could do better in the future (commercially) or not, time will tell. Rahrahbitchson 18,999
A good fan would have been streaming the song instead of wasting time writing all that Reporting you as we speak Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙
RichAssPiss 4,883
They will close this thread quickly. You are not allowed to say something is not a success anymore. They get interaction from Gaga's team on socials and want to be friends. We only do PR here. Work, slay, smash! Yaaas!
Ivy 12,323
I don't think it will be as big as Shallow but I think it has still a chance to rise, it has literally only been ONE weekend since movie has been out Also I thought it dropped off between song debut and movie release, and now has risen back on the chart? If that is the case then it could be actually rising since movie release, not falling Anyway it doesn't matter, Gaga still will be associated with this hugely successful movie so it's great for her. And I think the soundtrack will be recognized in awards season the meow in zombieboy

But I personally believe HMH has a chance to enter the Zeitgeist. If given a big enough platform Gaga could perform it live and propel interest - she excels in awards show’s performances. Or it may slowly build and punch through the mainstream consciousness after 6 months of being with moviegoers. It took me weeks and many listens to start to like the song. Now I love it but it didn’t connect with me at first. I don’t think I’m far off from a lot of people. The Soccer Moms and Military Wives will catch on eventually and give it longevity. Or not… who knows! I’ll still keep streaming regardless! Follow me on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/natethetrailhunter/
bluemonkey 639
It’s an okay song so I’m not eager for it to be topping the charts. They really should’ve released it earlier

skedaddleBItCh 2,806
And? Still a great song. (‾◡◝) How about instead of complaining why it will not be a hit nor chart well and acting it's the end of the world, we just stream the wonderful song and support Gaga and maybe the movie whenever we can, eh? 🇵🇭༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽🇵🇭
