Gaga is the last celebrity I would attach the ‘minimalist’ aesthetic to. It’s like the executives have no idea how consumers perceive Gaga and her legacy over the years. No one is looking for a minimalist or ‘clean’ beauty brand from Gaga. It’s like David Bowie releasing a range of plain vanilla ice cream. Perhaps this is supposed to represent the ‘new Gaga’, but I don’t see it resonating with consumers. Over 10 years of thought provoking and eye catching music, outfits, styling, performance and photoshoots… yet none of this spirit is represented in the core of the brand. If Gaga is supposed to be the driving force to get people to go out and buy the brand, the products having virtually no resemblance to the creator makes no sense to me. I think this will go down just like the previous Haus Labs product line did, there may be a few products that stand out to people, but nothing interesting enough to bring the brand into the forefront in the likes of Fenty or Rare Beauty. you're right on the public's perception, but Gaga has been trying to rebrand away from that since ARTPOP lol. almost 10 years. She wanted people to just focus on the music, that's why she put so much out before the album release. She said something to this affect. In this case, she just wants people to focus on the technology and the formulas. She's an artist of attention, and she may fail here because nobody will pay attention, but if they do, they have a better shot at understanding the message of these products without flagrant packaging. ARTGOD 3,266
The packaging does kinda give me Gaga vibes. It reminds me of the early ARTPOP era, the Applause look specifically. The early ARTPOP era went for a cleaner, more minimal look. Think of the reveal promo pics, the Aphrodite look, the signature Applause face paint. Clean, a lot of white and some accent colors. The problem is that I don’t think it’s necessarily her most recognizable or unique aesthetic, and it doesn’t seem to be entirely intentional either. MaybeKermit 4,962
I think the problem here is that they tried way too hard to make Haus Labs into this SuPerCleAn SupErChArgEd (whatever that might mean??) make up brand. It actually seems quite desperate of them to really create this “big” but basic looking brand. Just cause it might be easier to digest for the average consumer? Thats why they went for a pretty basic packaging so that it’s super safe. (I’m sorry but nobody can convince me that the packaging looks unique and different lmao)
JazzGa 14,621
Ok, the colored eyeliner with a built-in smudging brush? Yas. The colors are much trendier and brighter than the first release. I like them a lot better. A lot of the colors from the first Haus Labs were too neutral, dark, or glittery for me to want to wear them, even though I did buy them. She needs to bring back that bestselling EyeLIEner though, it was by far the best I've tried My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <
JazzGa 14,621
Not a fan of how hard they are leaning into greenwashing with their whole "ECO FRIENDLY!! CLEEEEEEEEN!!" branding thing tho. Like we all know that's BS and any time we buy more shiny goo wrapped in plastic it's bad for the environment regardless of the branding My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <
Joshie S 6,125
I thought the release was June 9? Why has it been revealed today? Either way, I thought we were going to see fully formed collections or more products..turns out we actually have less products now, but perhaps they will release the full line up on the 9th. I'm not mad at the packaging.. I just hope new products are coming. So many will be disappointed about the Eye-LIE-Ner... I'm glad I bought the lip oils when I could because it seems like 1 shade is missing from the site, even though it's appeared in the pictures. The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

Nothing about this line is minimalist and it’s being praised in the makeup groups as “more gaga” than what it was.

Guest
I feel like I'm the only one in here who sees this rebrand as an upgrade .. it's actually very Gaga to me. I also miss the old campy names but now you can definitely see her "Kindness era" in it. The way the Haus describes "supercharged" seems quite innovative to me and very Gaga. What is "kind" make up? She called herself a Kindness Punk and you can definitely see that in the rebrand. The old version was way more leaning to what was Gaga in the old days that it almost looked old school to an extent it almost wasn't authentic anymore
