Chic 20,830
Which albums that turned out to be legendary had a string of bad singles preceding it that didn't indicate the album quality at all? Are there any singles that simply didn't make sense on their own but actually worked our fantastically when listened to with the album as a whole? I personally love Perfect Illusion but when it comes to the fanbase's reception to it, it dulls in comparison to the fan's view of Joanne as a whole. Lucas 26,837
Joanne! Minus Million Reasons which is amazing. Perfect Illusion sounds absolutely incredible in the middle of the album but very meh on its own. And A-YO is easily one of my least favorite Gaga songs

Reject False Icons 4,770
Actually every female pop star after 2013. Seems like the industry purposely gave them far less chances to promote them and push other genres. When we hear the album we realize the singles don’t represent the album at all and every era goes downhill after the second single Joanne, Chromatica, PRISM, Witness, MDNA, Rebel Heart, Madame X, Bionic, Lotus, Liberation. Britney Jean, Glory, Beyoncé, Lemonade, High Road, MC&HDP, Younger Now, Plastic hearts,
BBhomemaker 5,611
Come On Over - Shania Twain ? The lead single was « love gets me everytime » which was an ordinary song coming from Shania, not bad but just not outstanding, then the album came out and followed by “Don’t be stupid” which had more success but nothing compared to the following singles : You’re still the one (3 months after album released) That don’t impress me much (a year after the album) Man I feel like a woman (a year and 5 months after the album) So much longevity.. Shania had so much singles, everytime she explores the full potential of her albums
Thermodynamics 36
Happier Than Ever by Billie Almost everyone was thinking Billie's gonna flop judging from the singles , but the album came out and it slapped.

PartySick 159,880
My answer is definitely Thriller though. Out of all those iconic tracks the song that was released as a single a month before the album dropped was...The Girl Is Mine I'm not sure if leads really mattered too much back then but yeah. Billie Jean? Beat It? Thriller? Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'? Human Nature? Hell, even Baby Be Mine would have been better 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

asfittingasmcqueen 2,005
Most recently, I would have to say Motomami. Everyone was mocking Rosalía because of Hentai and Chicken Teriyaki, then switched as soon as the album came out. It ended up as her most praised release among reviewers and even had a higher metacritic score than El Mal Querer
