FfFfFfFF 51,049
The small town of Baia Sprie, located at the foot of the Gutâi Mountains in Maramureş County, Romania, hides a unique tourist attraction in the world: a natural lake known worldwide as Blue Lake, which changes color depending on the light. People know it as the Blue Lake - a protected area of national interest. The lake is located at an altitude of 500 m at the foot of the Gutâi Mountains, near DN18 which connects Baia Mare with Sighetu Marmatiei. The Blue Lake of Maramureş is located on Mine Hill, three kilometers from the city, where, according to information provided by Baia Sprie City Hall, in 1920, by the collapse of an old mine gallery, formed a beautiful artificial lake. The metallic residues with an abundance of copper ions and iron sulphate make the water of this lake acquire, in time, a greenish color. Under certain weather and light conditions, the same water turns blue, hence the name Blue Lake. Source Edited May 29 by FfFfFfFF 1
