It only got 2 performances. It became a hit because of the movie not because of promo.

Shallow hit number 1 in february 2019 after the oscars, the movie came out in october 2018 :samanthac:

sounds like promo did it's job to me :samanthac:

mother, what must i do?

Because the promo is lead by the movie team and not by her team, the team is just doing tweets and stuff like that, but the rest of the promo is the movie team.

Their purpose is to hold it until the Oscar's, it's pretty common for soundtracks.

Unless they naturally smash like My Heart Will Go On (it smashed thanks to remix actually)

Ik but still, One Republic are going to perform their song live on TV show and have been increasing their song's playlist reach, thanks to their own team I'm sure, not the movie's.

Why Gaga's can't do the same? HMH is a bop and the basis of the movie's score and I'm just sad it doesn't get a proper treatment :bradley:

Because it's just a one-off soundtrack single and not a major project to get behind. Financially, it's very low reward to invest money in a song that will just do streaming and radio without selling an album or a tour. The stadium tour is the big cash flow this summer. This is just a little opportunity to stay in the press that covers film and music while she is touring.

Then why "Just Look Up", a semi-ballad that didn't enter on a single chart in any country, got playlisted on TTH?

Not to say that Top Gun Maverick is literally this year's biggest blockbuster, so putting the main theme song on TTH should be the most logic move.

The argument that HMH isn't being playlisted because of being a soundtrack single doesn't make any sense.

Just someone isn't doing his job right, simple as that.

because the quality, the awesomeness of the song plus Gaga's name are enough to do the job.

They just released the song of 1R, so of course there's going to be a little promo, 1R song is perfect for Jimmy Kimmel kind of show, Gaga song is perfect for award shows.

Also, I believe they are trying to push Gaga as a composer more than a songwriter because winning an Oscar's for being a composer is much greater than Original Song.

Yes the Oscar’s performance helped push the song, but the song still wasn’t promoted heavily

Y'all forget that this is a song for a MOVIE which literally just released TODAY. Let's calm down and wait to see what it's like for the next couple of weeks.

probably because it was being promoted heavily in a smash hit movie across the globe :enigma:

sounds like there was no need to waste extra money on little performances when they have major award shows around the corner

mother, what must i do?

The movie is the promo this weekend. Estimated 4 days weekend box office is at least 125 M $.

And I have a feeling that in this case for Gaga (and Tom), accolades are more important than chart rankings.

If they playlisted Shallow the same Friday as ASIB came out, they could have also done the same with HMH, it's perfectly compatible with receiving accolades and preparing for the awards.

The excuses here to justify the unjustifiable.

My guess is that promo and chart success just aren't top priority for Gaga. She's done enough in that regard in the past. Doesn't need those things for her ego or whatever. Maybe?

Because it is weird she (or her team) just don't do much compared to other stars.

Eh, and the end of the day, it's just a song. No big deal.

Because they spent all the budget on the Applebees promo:

Jk. I think the song will gain traction after the movie has been out for a few days. Ppl will watch the film and leave with the song in their head.

What I know so far about Tom Cruise is that he is very ambitious and attentive to details. We also know that he closely supervised the production of the score and made very positive statements about Gaga’s work. I think there is a reason for the little promo currently. (I didn’t say that is a good marketing tactic.)
