Okay, I’ve seen a few “defund the police” statements in these comments and…why? Why? Why? Why? Why? 

If anything, we should be funding them MORE so we can re-educate and retrain our police officers to develop a more effective, intelligent and fairer force. In my country, there were studies taken in a few counties where “police visibility” was increased through more funding, and crimes dropped by between 40-60% over the space of a few years. 

 

We need pragmatism when it comes to the policing problem, and you can never solve a problem with ANYTHING, be it unemployment, crime etc, by just cutting funds.

I even saw one tweet that blamed liberals. Stating something to the effect of "this didn't happen until all this woke sh*t started with race, gay stuff, and gender".

These people are absolute morons. It's a shame the rest of us are the ones who suffer because of it.

The poorly educated Trumpsters are the biggest of ignoramuses. If I love a band so much, I will buy their T-shirt and wear it proudly. If I love a movie or tv show character, I do the same. Whenever I see conservatives in these ridiculous T-shirt, I can’t help but laugh out of pity. Their politics (or ignorance in regards to politics) and guns are their personality. Pretty lame personally traits imo.
 

I saw a guy a few days ago with a shirt that said ALPHA with an American flag fill. I laughed. 
 

I was at EDC last week. There was a totem with a Let’s Go Brandon flag. These ppl are so full of themselves. 

Tho not political, at Disneyland I saw a dad with a Grunt Style T-shirt and his little toddler son had a shirt that said, I kid you not, “Hide Your Princesses.” That poor child is a predator in training.

Interesting how that's not "sexualizing children" but letting kids read a book about a unicorn is soooOOOOOooo inappropriate that we need to write an entire ban.

Defunding the police will not amplify the issues, it will help to solve them. 

When we say defund the police, we mean to use a large chunk of the money that goes toward funding police to social programs that will reduce the need for police intervention.

That's giving money to schools to make them a better place for students. That's giving money to drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs so that they are more effective and more proactive at stopping substance abuse. That's giving money to mental healthcare so it can be both more readily available to the public and affordable to all (as it stands, mental health care is a 'luxury' which is part of the problem). That's giving money to training mental health professionals who can respond to events like domestic violence issues, drug calls, and other violent crimes because it has been shown time and time again in data that non-aggressive de-escalation is more effective at cooling heated situations than going in gun and taser first.

That's giving money to rural metro and fire departments who are better trained already (no need for a reeducation) to respond to situations first and de-escalate more successfully. That's giving money to healthcare to make it more readily available to all so that early signs of brewing trouble can be detected sooner and dangerous situations being prevented. 

If we did that, the need for police to be involved in many situations is greatly reduced. There would also be a reduction in crime in general, thus lowering the risk posed by officers.
