Lies.

This lol. Shallow debuted at #28 THE WEEK BEFORE the movie and didn’t hit the top 10 until the week of the movie. We were also underwhelmed with its debut EVERYWHERE. Not to mention a teaser for this track was out for 3 months before it was released and it was Gaga’s first movie, so the hype was even bigger

I am worried about the next few weeks, not overall.

Yeah I feel, hopefully she does something to keep the song's momentum before the movie release, like a cute little interview or something. I would LOVE if Gaga made an appearance on a talk show with Tom. I know this won't happen but it would be everything if she performed it at a radio station or something like Tiny Desk Concert, it would definitely go viral! :firega:

EDIT: What we REALLY need is a new trailer with Hold My Hand in it! Pleaseee :tony:

By not entirely you mean that some artists/labels won't care/need to pay?

Because there is an italian singer who never gets playlists and one day during a live on IG her fans complained about this and she said "talk to my label if you think I should have more playlists on spotify".

Then of course a Justin Bieber or a Drake doesn't need to pay to get playlist because they will be automatically inserted. But banners, playlists and so on ore often an investiment from the labels.

By not entirely I mean that if Spotify doesn’t think the song should be on the playlist, you can't just buy a placement. If that were the case, we would have random songs by random artists on top of Today’s Top Hits every week.

You can see this even with HMH’s placement on New Music Friday. It’s on top of the playlist in most countries in Europe and Asia, but in the US, it’s #3 behind Bad Bunny and Jack Harlow. It’s not because Bad Bunny and Jack Harlow paid more, it’s because they are bigger in the US right now.

Spotify is a business (which faces crazy competition from Apple Music) and they are not going to put a 4-minute ballad on top of all of their playlist no matter how fat the check is. “Shallow” didn’t have good playlisting either, yet “Rain On Me” was on top of Today’s Top Hits immediately.

They barely have control over the “This is Lady Gaga” playlist. It was last updated when Love For Sale was released and Spotify only put two songs from the album on there, at #44 and #46 lol

Of course being able to pay for your place on Spotify wouldn’t mean they would have random artists.... how would a random artist outbid a major label artist?...

these playlists are PURELY bought

Just saw that she has the "alarmschijf" in the Netherlands. Usually a good sign for a hit!

Easily. Someone like Rita Ora has way more money than a random singer with a TikTok hit, yet Spotify will prioritize that artist with a TikTok hit.

For example that “abcdefu” song has been on Today’s Top Hits for like half a year simply because it blew up on TikTok.

They’re not paying out of their own pockets SMH. Rita’s company wouldn’t invest the money because she’s never had a hit in her like decade career, yet Miss abcdefu HAD a hit on TikTok, so it behooves her record company to pay Spotify to put it on playlists

I didn’t say artists pay out of their pocket. And no, if you could just buy a TTH placement, record companies would do that for random artists. There are plenty of cases when huge budgets are dropped on songs that end up making no noise, but I’ve never seen a song that either wasn’t a hit or wasn’t expected to be a hit on TTH.

“abcdefu” is on playlists because it blew up on TikTok and Spotify, as a business, is interested in putting it on playlists.

How do you not understand that Spotify’s priority is for people to enjoy their playlists and keep spending money on subscriptions?
