This. I second this.

oprah being a POC has had to battle tooth and nail to get to where she is, crucifying her is easier than looking within. I agree.

why are we acting like the fact she said this is a bad thing?

It’s not “bad” but it is extremely tone-deaf. Like half of the comments are people saying they did the same thing. Difference is, when you live in a mansion on property the size of a small town fitted with pools and tennis courts, “staying in” isn’t the same as regular people living in their tiny apartments.

i dont think its tone deaf at all, she was talking about her personal experience.

I mean the first year was horrifying, I'm pretty sure everybody stayed home for the most part.

Looking back on just how bad it was it's hard to believe it's only been 2 years.

Sure, she had a mansion to stay on quarantine, but as if rich people don't suffer anxiety and depression. Do I have to give examples? :trollga:

sorry but no it's not the same. she lives in a mansion that's basically a resort, and she can literally hire others to get her groceries and whatever necessities for her. i'm not sure why the rich love to seem relatable to the general public if i were half as rich as her i would just stfu.

of course i'm bitter, i had to lockdown in an abusive household :samanthac:

if i were locked down in a mansion that had space, it would be a billion times easier :samanthac: nobody is saying oprah owes us, they're just calling out how tone deaf her statement is

mother, what must i do?

But she didn't say it was the same? And just because half of the comments say it doesn't mean half the population stayed in. Why does everything need to be picked apart and criticized? Just say "I'm sorry that it affected her negatively, but I'm glad she watched out for herself and others, and that she took the science seriously". Big house or little house, everybody that stayed in got cabin fever.

It's almost as if she's a human, and humans like to share things about themselves. Relatable or not.

Some people were locked down in prison. And some people didn't even have a home to be locked down in.

I feel like you're missing the point. I'm comparing the homeless and imprisoned to your situation.

And that's not to say your situation didn't matter because it does. But there's always gonna be somebody who's having a harder time than someone else, but that doesn't mean your own experience is invalid. Oprah's experience isn't invalid. You can have all the things you'd ever want in your home. But that's not gonna change the fact that you're human. Everybody felt 2020. A lot of people died, everyone's routine changed, and there was a LOT of uncertainty. Oprah is at an age where she easily could have died from covid.  And money doesn't change that.

Lol, she’s a human being, with a human experience. And please don’t come for her being relatable or not, she is one of the biggest success stories of our time.
