When I young, I struggled with a lot of things mentally. Being bullied by teachers at school, social anxiety etc. (I was a good kid, I studied hard, just unfortunate environment. ) As I entered adulthood, I started to rebel and only did things that I believe in. Exasperated, I was asked why i refused to wear the school issued socks. i looked her dead in the eye and told her " these purple socks are my identity. theyre the one thing that allows me to stand out." Like they didnt get it. By asking me to change my socks, they were asking me to change my whole identity. Tose purple socks were my hair haha I love you monsters. When I heard the song the first time, the first two lines hit hard and quite a lot changed to the better in the aftermath. It also made me reconnect with Gaga's music.
