To differentiate the Republicans from Democrats you have to mention the most extremist kind of policies the GOP enacts when the reality is they are in alignment on most mainstream policies, many of them related to economic issues, healthcare, labor, climate, etc. there isn’t enough of a discernible difference which is exactly why nearly 40% of people, most of them disproportionately younger and from disenfranchised minority communities do not vote. Ppl will literally attribute several of these policies to being uniquely trumpian, when under Biden, more people have been deported, more kids are in cages, more public land has been leased to oil and gas companies for drilling and fracking permits, the military and police budgets have increased, minimum wage has remained the same, more Medicare services have been privatized or contracted to private health insurance companies, etc. The reality is that most ppl don’t see some of those issues you mentioned as affecting their lives in a major way (relative to more existential economic issues) except the extremely reactionary wings of both parties. If it were the case then you would see an increase in political participation from the public at large. Current US polling shows thats not the case. And this is exactly what you saw in the French election, several ppl choosing a party to block the other party simply because they weren’t as bad and leading to even more dissatisfaction. A lot of y’all are correct in noticing the rise of the far right but maybe analyze why. also if you're gonna analyze why, in my opinion you always have to include the fact that a lot of people don't know what they're talking about when it comes to politics and a lot of people have whacky ideas that are being spread around with social media. if you just know the basics behind government (like me) you will know that no president is gonna come in and fix everything like magic. to get even basic policy passed a president will need to have the skill to move the electorate into their position in such a way that public pressure from individual districts are put on lawmakers representing those districts. trump was very good at that and he moved the entire republican party over in a ground up fashion (in other words he rallied the people which in turn swayed lawmakers to move into that position because they did not want to be voted out), which is why the republican party is now insane. also i will say that the republican party and the democrats are extremely different. republicans are insane. ANY kind of green energy stuff you may see in your community (whether it be the use of solar panels, wind energy, etc. etc.), while although not nearly enough, was still way more than likely NOT put there by a republican. it's a question of SOME movement but not enough to NO movement at all. Since we're talking about pre-teens, shouldn't they focus more on acquiring basic knowledge at this age? The type of knowledge that is great for every citizen to get, no matter if they'll do long studies or not. Maybe it's not the case out of France but here the ones learning a job at 15 yo are very often the poor kids so the idea to inform them about more professional classes years sooner than we already do makes it seems like soon the poor's will get minimal education then be sent asap to work... Having educated lower classes is important. 8 hours ago, Gabi001 said: Life expectancy is increasing (In EU it is above 80years) and there are slowly more seniors than workers, it is logical and very responsible to push the age of retirement to prevent collapse of social system (it is happening in whole Europe In France it stagnates since several years. France spend money poorly sometimes so I understand why some people rather want the retirement politics to be funded by stopping the waste instead of being told to make more efforts... Mainly when their jobs are physically hard and age you faster. The German factories for example are way more equipped than french ones making a factory job here more physically exhausting than one in Germany. Also idk how it is elsewhere but the difference in years you live after retiring according to how hard your job was vary hugely in France ( 6 additional years for a manager compared to a worker here) so telling folks to do more years sounds like a semi kiss of death. 9 hours ago, Gabi001 said: Why should be someone be paid just because he thinks he is too educated to work as a waiter? Was his education worth it if he can't find a job with doctorate? That's why you need to not have 10 persons training for only one job available which France started to do years ago with college applications acceptance.
