I will never understand why she keeps doubling down on this. I’m completely baffled. Why is she so threatened by trans people and so insistent on amplifying voices of other people who are threatened by trans people?

My favorite part of the article was when he tried to legitimize his argument with the DSM-5 definition of gender dysphoria and cherry picked the information he wanted. If he had even the slightest bit of knowledge about the psychological studies on gender dysphoria, he'd know that trying to force a transgender person to be cis is unethical. On top of that, he sets the bar at DSM-5 and then uses outdated studies in order to make his argument about 85% of adolescents desisting. Which are based on an older model of the manual in which gender dysphoria was still called gender identity disorder. And the study from which he quotes the 85% statistic is heavily flawed because any participant they followed up with who was unavailable for comment was marked down as a desistor.

 

All this while throwing the q word around. I'm sorry but I hope the part of hell he ends up in is extra hot.

This article infuriates me to no end.

First off, the DSM is not the be-and-end-all to standards for mental health, let alone valid trans identities. Trans people aren't defined or legitimized by gender dysphoria. Additionally, the DSM is constantly revised and updated to better reflect our growing understand of human psychology and mental health disorders. Gender Identity Disorder wasn't just renamed as Gender Dysphoria, it was that we learned that being trans wasn't a disorder, and that Gender Dysphoria was a type of distress that many trans people experience. 

Then there's the idea that he dismisses trans youth as just being confused with the gender nonconformity and being queer. This is not only insulting to trans youth, saying that they don't know their own experiences as true, but it also dismisses the existence of queer people that were not gender nonconforming. Being gender nonconforming is not a prerequisite to being gay, nor should you infer that someone who is gay must be gender nonconforming (or vice versa). There are plenty of cis gay males and cis lesbians that are incredibly gender typical in their behavior and expression. This doesn't even take into account the bisexual, pansexual, aroace, etc. identities and their expression. There is a correlation between queer identities and gender nonconformity, but so is there between trans identities and gender nonconformity. Why does correlation mean causation for one, but not the other? Especially the one that has nothing to do with gender identity and expression, meanwhile the other is entirely about that?

And finally, that last paragraph where he poses the question we "should" be asking. Let's play that scenario out. A child, assigned male at birth, tells their parents that they want to identify as a girl and start transitioning. According to the author, the parents are supposed to say "Well, we don't think that's right, maybe you're just gay. Why don't you go through male puberty, where irreversible changes will happen to your body, and then decide if that's right for you? Puberty blockers are dangerous after all, its just the woke mob trying to groom you into not being gay anymore." Like for real? Gender Critical people do not care about any gay, lesbian, or otherwise queer people, they just want to weaponize them against the "trans agenda", and this author has fallen for it, hook, line, and sinker.

They're sadding the comments that drag her. 

They'll probably stop lckng her boots only when she draws and quarters a transperson, but even then I'm not so sure.

Transphobic gays are not new. We've had this issue since Stonewall. Mattachine did not respect STAR and tried to exclude trans members of the community during the early Pride marches. It's a constant shame that people get left behind by cis white gays who want to cling to the boots of the straights.
