What truth is he talking about :what:

Otherwise his open letter sounds like typical problems people before their 30s go through. It'll be alright with time.

Y’all, he is not talking about his sexuality.

I know most of you here don’t follow him, but this is very in line with things he’s been saying for a few years now in regards to his mental health. He has struggled with poor mental health practically since he’s been in the spotlight and that’s always been a battle. Mental health issues don’t just go away, they’re a constant, lifetime battle and some days are good and some days are bad.

He has been very open with the fact that he used to internalize a lot and it was ultimately very detrimental to his well being, both mentally and physically. In the last two years, he’s partnered with a few organizations who’s aim is to promote conversation and discussion of mental health. He’s taking their advice and just speaking about what he feels. It just so happens that he feels comfortable talking to his fans about it which makes sense considering he got famous based off of person to person interaction and engagement with fans.

No need to speculate on some hidden meaning or whatever. He said exactly what he meant to say. I think what he means by him not being his true self is simply him admitting he’s pretended he’s all good when sometimes he isn’t.

Sometimes as people are battling their depression, it’s hard to get thoughts out in a way that makes sense to everyone. This makes sense to him though, and that’s what matters. And if his younger fans can look at this and see that he can be honest about his struggles, that can in turn encourage them to do the same.

It makes sense to those that needed to hear it and needed to see it, himself included, and that’s what it’s important.

tbh he should just come out and accept it.

I dont think girls are even drooling over him tbh. I genuinely just don’t like how the music industry force artists to be not themselves for marketing purposes when in reality he’s very marketable in the gay community.

I hope these music executives know what the current climate is in pop culture.

Why are most of you so annoying? Why do you have to pressure him into coming out if he now is gay? What if he isn't? Just leave the guy alone Jesus Christ.

The jokes about Shawn's sexuality are not funny. They're based in misandry and outdated stereotypes and they hurt so many more people than just him. When I was a teenager and incredibly afraid of coming out I remember going to a gay group with my lesbian friend, and being so extremely nervous about the whole thing, it was a huge step for me. And when I arrived the whole time everyone there bullied me trying to force me to come out, telling me that 'it's obvious' and 'we can tell anyway'. It also happened again at a party which ended up being a horrible night. Do you know how much that messed me up mentally? When I was in the closet for my own safety, being told that everyone can tell and I don't pass as straight? My first experiences meeting other gay people and instead of the loving, accepting community people always talked about, I immediately developed trust issues against them and went deeper in the closet. Didn't trust any gay people for so long, didn't take any more chances, played it safe, hid.

And I'm not saying Shawn is gay, straight, whatever. But at this point he's f.ucked either way. Only 23 years old and on a world stage with everyone ridiculing him just for being himself. If he is straight he will remain constantly made fun of and probably develop homophobic tendencies against the community that judges and harasses him. If he ever does come out as not straight he will be heckled because 'we already knew sis', while also being shunned by the industry (see Jojo Siwa not getting invited to the Kids Choice Awards after coming out).

And one last point... are we really, REALLY still judging straight men for being too effeminate? Really? Neither the straight community nor the LGBTQIA community have grown past the point of ridiculing and shaming men for being too effeminate? Judging them based on how they hold themselves, or how kind they are, or how they speak, or dress, or walk. Every time people make fun of Shawn for 'being obviously gay' they are saying that straight men and gay men have to act certain ways. That some men need to be 'straight enough' to be taken seriously. F.ucked up man. Can't believe we're still doing this

I'll be myself until they fƫcking close the coffin.
