You copy and pasting this over and over again won’t make it true, just letting you know.

You’re obviously speculating most of what you keep repeating, because if you knew anything about the film industry you’d know that production and marketing budgets are complete separate things and their individual costs are their own responsibilities. The $200 million budget of the film is covered already by what has been made in theatres - now it’s up to marketing to break even on what they spent. If anything gets cut for the next film it’ll be budget for marketing, merch and other stunts.

Just say you hate R*wling and move on, obsessively writing financial fan fiction on a Lady Gaga forum to make things look worse is honestly very concerning.

LOL

I can’t stop laughing at your reply. This is literally a fact, I’m very sorry you don’t like it. You have no idea what your talking about, and the fact your are disputing what I have written is mind boggling.

I have very clearly broken this down for you, this is for every movie, not just Fantastic Beasts. WB this weekend took home about $100 million.

They need to clear $350ish mil before they start generating profit (across all mediums). However, as I stated Warner has a lot of options here to profit, it’s not all just on opening weekend.

The fact you think taking 200 mil means the movie has made all its money back is wild. Cinemas exist (as do participation contracts, but you wont like that info as it will slightly lower the movies gross again).

ps: I know for a fact how the movie industry works 😉

And what is wrong with her Getting the money? Her books, ideas, etc.

It is not Like you Are funding her activities you disagree with, She does not have an agenda of erasing groups of people, She is  tweeting. And most importantly She has right to her opinion.

I honestly do not understand cancel culture. Everybody Are talking about accepting everyone for who they Are but as soon as someone has slightly different and not liberal and OPEN opinion on something, that person need to be canceled.

Isn’t that just the other End of what you Are advocating for?!?

I have no problem with JK Getting my money. She created books and movies I Enjoy and has all the right to have profit from me. I love that part of her.

Where would this world be if Everybody would think the same ?!?

in a better place because transphobes wouldn't be rich :vegas:

mother, what must i do?

...just say that you simply don't think trans people are people who deserve to have rights or a right to live....

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

Looking at your replies, I had to make it VERY CLEAR for you 😅

Anyway, I’m glad you learnt something and just know, just because you like something It doesn’t mean you can make up your own facts.

Facts are facts 😌

Have a good day.

I do not think that but maybe you should see with yourself what you stand for. Last time I checked trying to erase people or their work for having different  opinion from what you stand for did not go Well.

You're still calling dangerous, violent transphobia simply a "different opinion" sis, I don't think you get it :poot:

and yet she keeps supporting transphobic people, retweeting transphobic posts, and tweeting transphobic posts.

What kind of apologies are these?

I was about to reply and give an in-depth explanation of how these financial responsibilities are spread out in the film industry but then I realized I have over a decade of experience working in film marketing and I'm arguing with random people on GGD about their wild speculation and google-curated info. There's literally no point lmao

Studios don't write off a film if it doesn't hit its production budget within a week. By your measurements, nearly every new film out right now is a complete flop because a 50% profit pull from the US market isn't going to garner much in a single week... especially with a post-covid downswing in sales.

Also that profit percentage you mentioned is actually closer to 60%, and sometimes higher depending on the film and how guaranteed it's success is. Every single film is negotiated.

Fantastic Beasts 3 has not been a massive success. But it hasn't been a massive failure either. It's been a middle of the road "meh" for the studio and theatres. That's all I'm trying to say here. The people trying to paint it as this career ending nightmare for all involved need another hobby and should reevaluate the level of obsession they have towards anything related to the Wizarding World failing.

I can appreciate the more nuanced approach you are making here due to industry specific knowledge but I don't think the "general rule of thumb" method that is being used is so egregious that it deserves contempt.

The best that can be said for Fantastic Beast 3 is that it is going to cover it's cost by the end of the run. But it is not going to give WB the kind of money from one of their big franchises that they need in an industry increasingly surviving off of big franchises.

i can understand people still loving franchise, but still defending JK... really? she made it clear. trans lives don't matter to her.

Not to mention she's been pulled into a whole subsection of the LGB groups that actively oppose trans folks, so she's getting validation from our own communities that she isn't "wrong".

It's honestly a masterclass in how someone is radicalized. Person makes problematic statements on twitter -> is dogpiled and "cancelled" -> is "rescued" and supported by right-wing/antagonistic groups -> feels validated -> doubles down on their problematic views -> believes they're fighting for the greater good.

I like to believe everyone has the capacity to learn, and I often wonder what would've happened if the online response to her crap had been more persistent and educational from allies of the trans community, rather than co-opting the rightful anger of trans people and attacking her with violence and hatred. All the gay men tweeting at her to "choke on a fat trans c***" among other violent and sexual suggestions only gave her and her ilk ammo to prove we're all rabid internet trolls.

But alas. She sucks and trans lives are more important than the reputation of an ignorant billionaire :reductive:
