Recent collabs that surprisingly flopped?

So many have said that ROM was only successful because Ariana was on it (even Gaga fans) but considering Ariana has done collabs before that didn't take off and other artists on her level of success and relevancy have also had flopped collabs, it proves that the song truly connecting with the public is what it all comes down to. So, here were some recent collabs (some original, some remixes) that didn't hit like I expected despite big name recognition:

Calvin Harris & The Weeknd - Over Now

Ariana Grande feat. Doja Cat & Megan Thee Stallion - 34+35

Ed Sheeran feat. Taylor Swift - The Joker And The Queen

Megan Thee Stallion & Dua Lipa - Sweetest Pie

So, clearly, it takes a bit more than being the latest sensations to make a hit. And make no mistake, big backing and big money is piled onto these songs in the hopes to make them a success so it's a big deal for all involved when they flop. Are there any more that surprisingly flopped?

Streaming has made it anyone's game, not just the big star. Every other day we're flooded with new music that even I struggle to keep up.

Could be a cynical take but sometimes it’s refreshing to see these sorts of collabs underperform. So many of them are just strategic and stale and have no flare anymore.

Now THIS one surprised me truly. Ariana came right off of Sweetener (2 top 10s), thank u, next (2 No. 1s, a #2 hit), and Boyfriend (a Top 10). And it’s not every day you see Lana such a mainstream collab so I thought it had a lot of IT factors going for it

It's actually doing well though 🤔

Ehhh it’s lucky it’s getting spammed by the radios for the Sheerat. Canada and Australia usually hop on these kinds of songs (mainstream pop collabs, radio tailored tracks, etc.) first or at all as opposed to the US and it hasn’t hit top 10 in either of those yet…

It hasn't hit the top 20 on bb yet and YouTube views are pretty low considering the artists. Now that Camila is pushing the next single I doubt it’ll go anywhere, which sucks since it should’ve been Señorita level

Other charts do exist outside of billboard lol.

Lol I’m not about to argue about this… You’d think a song like Bam Bam with an Ed Sheeren ft would do better is what I’m saying.

I can't think of any other collabs that have been mentioned already. Ed Sheeran + Taylor Swift seems like a duo that will for sure do well so I'm surprised they did it once with End Game and now again with Joker and the Queen and it's like nothing happened except for the million views of course. I think he was also featured on one of Taylor's re-release singles and that was also very chill.

Over Now

The Joker and Queen

Sweetest Pie

34+35

All have in common they are forgettable

this includes Dont call me angel too

I should love Over Now because The Weeknd has been one of my faves since 2012 since before he got album out. The same for Calvin. I did like the song, but I just didn't want to play it again. I really tried to like it a lot. I ended up recently removing it from my playlist bc I just always skipped to next song once I heard the start of the song.

I also love Dua a lot, and I like Meghan but I just didn't like Sweetes Pie since day 1, I even heard it first with accompaning music video, so it should help. I think particulary on this one I find the "chorus" almost irritating - like I actually dislike how Dua sings that.
