I would even go as far as saying Joanne is her best lyrically speaking. The "smartest" thing she did on the album was replace "sign" with "sine" and compare pain to rain Meanwhile, with every other album, she's making allusions, striking metaphors, and painting puzzles with her words. "Please retweet" is more inspired than the entirety of Sour Candy "I will fly on the Challenger across the sky" is more poetic and powerful than 1000 Doves could ever be. Why "strut it out, walk a mile, serve it ancient city style" when I can "step into the light, display your diamonds and pearls in my FASHION! Married to the night, we own the world, we oooown the woooorld". Even Jewels n' Drugs is more lyrically inspired than most of the stuff on Chromatica That's my opinion at least Still a 10/10 album but I'm ready for the rain of hate regardless Oddly enough my favorite album, Joanne, is the one I'd consider the most poorly written so Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Poker Face isn't one of my favourite Gaga songs by any stretch but the lyrics, theme, wordplay are immaculate. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Chromatica is straight to the point. It doesn't always have to be complicated in order to be seen as interesting or sophisticated.
