Songs By Artists You Wish They Made More Of

Odd title, I know. But there's several artists that have stand out songs that I wish they made more in that vein. And the rest of their discography is completely different, or I've tried to get into it and it's either just ok or not my gig. Here's some examples:

We need more of this DominatrixGa. Sour Candy was there but it's too short

This is literal perfection and the best blend of pop and experimental. I do like a lot of Charli's music but it tends to be either too pop or too experimental, if that makes any sense.

These are two of my all time favorite songs ever and the production is so unique. Unfortunately, the rest of their discography failed to match these, and is just ok. I have to be in the right mood.

These are just a few that come to mind. But you know what I mean? Where you go to play the album expecting the vibe of their really good single, and it's just...not?

Florence + the machine - Long & Lost

i want to hear more chilled and quiet songs because they’re usually known for their loud and energetic ones.

wish Gaga had/would've made more songs in two styles –

the Bloody Mary/So Happy I Could Die/HML sound that's sorta atmospheric/vibey/throbby

the Starstruck/Second Time Around/Heal Me/The Cure sound that verges on R&B but is still Gaga pop

Where to begin? This may be quite reminiscent of a thread made quite some while back where we listed the few songs we liked from artists who we otherwise dislike to some extent, so this feels a bit deja vu.

Doja Cat - Wish she made more stuff like Rules. That distinctive guitar vibe sounded great and I think that's the best song she's made yet and I prefer her flow here instead of the more obnoxious way of rapping she tends to do. She's one of those artists I find to be talented but whose stuff I ironically just don't connect with bar one or two and I wished this could've been her break-out hit instead of Say So. I hope that the newfound attention it got after she hit the big time will encourage her to make something like it again.

Drake - Wish he made more stuff like Pop Style. I love that dark, eerie beat and it's one of the few beats of his that's memorable.

Future - Wish he made more stuff like Mask Off and I Thought It Was A Drought. Ditto what I said for Drake. I'm surprisingly ok with mumble rap provided it has a good beat.

Charli XCX - Wish she made more fun pop stuff like After The Afterparty and more exciting hardcore rave stuff like Pink Diamond. All her work is of 2 extremes for me - too basic or too experimental and I wish she would strike a happy medium more. It's not often I wish for artists to be more mainstream but I feel she shines more when she does that.

Madonna - Wish she made more political and social infused songs like the songs from American Life, Rebel Heart and Madame X. I feel she's wasting her talent on chasing current trends and uptempo songs.

Taylor Swift - Wish she made more folky stuff in line with Safe & Sound. That's what I wish she had tapped into on Folklore and Evermore. And I also wish she'd do more dark, sexy songs like Don't Blame Me, Dress and I Did Something Bad.

Pink - Wish she made all the punchy pop punk stuff she used to. She's mellowed down so much since she became a wife and mother, with her last big fun pop album being a decade ago now. She's almost completely ballad orientated on albums now and it's a shame because it's not even what she does best. Maybe she feels she's too old for that stuff now? Well, she still looks great and keeps herself toned and fit, she can more than carry off this style and genre in her 40's.

Exactly this. While I do enjoy many of her songs, I have to be in the right mood and a lot of them are either wayy too bubblegum or wayy too out there. Vroom Vroom is the only one that I really feel is perfectly balanced.

Franch Toast

Gaga - More rock stuff like from her Stefani days.

Gwen Stefani - More rock stuff like from her No Doubt days, or, you know, just make music with No Doubt again. Sorry, but the country duets aren't doing it for Franch, nor is the Christmas music.

Welp, someone had to say it :applause: although I like her pop stuff, ND was legit my first favorite band and I would love for her to go that route again
