Cameltoe Chariot 14,300
I'm looking forward to it! I keep hearing that it's the best of the 3 and that certain "plotholes" people were whining about in the 2nd turned out to be twists/explained in this one. I guess that's the problem when the series isn't based on books we've already read and devoured - people are more eager to point out what's wrong instead of trusting the process. elijahfan 24,880
I'm a little mixed about this one. I thought it had great scenes, great new characters and locations and some moments were genuinely funny. But as a whole, it feels like the story hasn't moved that much and, like others pointed out, I expected more "secrets" to be involved with this title. Spoiler I know people criticized Crimes of Grindelwald for being too convoluted, but that one isn't much better. I literally have so many questions about a lot of plot points, like... How did Newt know exactly where a Qilin would be giving birth, and how did Grindelwald's followers know where to find him? How was the mommy Qilin still alive for a bit after being hit by a death spell? What was up with the blood pact vial attacking a ****ing wall? Why does the German Ministry of Magic has the authority to declare Grindelwald innocent? What's in it for Vogel? Why did Grindelwald need to sacrifice a Qilin if he already had the ability to get visions of the future? How did Dumbledore know about the assassination attempt? What was the point of getting Jacob accused of it by giving him a wand? It literally gave Grindelwald an excuse to declare his war against Muggles, like... What was the whole point of that political dinner scene? What was the point of Theseus getting arrested? Couldn't they duplicate the case by magic? Why does nobody question the provenance of the Qilin at the end? Why is Credence freaking dying slowly throughout the film? Why are Queenie and Jacob suddenly allowed to marry when they couldn't in the previous film? I don't know, all these scenes were individually really cool, but when it comes to the general plot, I have no idea where this was going. It's like really cool pieces of a puzzle, but I have no idea what picture it's supposed to represent in the end. Dumbledore's strategy was confusion, and confused I was and still am. I'm also disappointed about many character arcs. Queenie's betrayal was super tragic and unexpected, and the fact she's going back to Jacob in this really feels like a wasted plot. Tina's absence is also super strange and only feels like an excuse to put the spotlight on Lally and Bunty - who are both adorable by the way, but there already was a female sidekick we were invested in, like... why did we need new characters here? And yeah, Credence had it super dirty in this film: Grindelwald literally groomed him for 2 films so that he could murder Dumbledore, only for his attempt to be thwarted super easily... how anticlimactic was that? Plus, did we need an entire film to learn that he's actually Dumbledore's nephew, and not his brother? Like, Ok, that's the big revelation of the movie? Plus, the happy end of a last scene was a stark contrast to the cliffhanger of the previous film and doesn't really make anyone curious regarding what's coming next - when it ended, I literally was like "that's it?" It low-key feels like they're aware they might not get another film. So yeah, this will require a second look for me. One thing I did pick up, and haven't seen discussed yet, is I believe they showed how Hogwarts' Giant Squid ended up in the Lake. If that's indeed what they were hinting at with that tentacle getting into the water, that was a nice nod!
HEARTSTOP 3,137
As a Harry Potter fan, I was very disappointed. Keep in mind the second movie already had me skeptical about the whole Fantastic Beasts line, since Newt could be removed from the films and they would still be the same. But they went too far with this third one. The plot was very thin and all over the place. Dumbledore was almost irrelevant to the movie since most of the things he did were in the backstage. There's pretty much no secrets at all, and the ones that were actually there (which we all already knew about for years) were either given in the first couple minutes of the movie, or simply told as a quick 3-minute story during an insignificant conversation. It's specially disappointing because we, as fans, have been waiting to see these things enacted on the big screen, and they simply skimp through them in a few words, and so we'll never actually see them. A big rule in good films is "show us, don't tell us". They told us. The Credence/Aurelius thing was so convoluted, which we could already see from the previous movie, but they confirmed that they didn't know what to do with it by simply stamping on a random development as a last second thought. I also expected a lot more from this new Grindelwald actor. There were some good scenes, but overall he wasn't very charismatic. But above all, what bothered me the most, is the lack of magic in situations that would clearly be full of magic in the "real" wizarding world (see spoiler). Spoiler Like, what the hell were those ministry events, where everyone is dressed as a muggle accountant/CEO and there's almost no magic to be seen? These are the most powerful/influential people in the wizarding world and all they have to offer them are waiters that can sometimes levitate a cup? Not to mention Dumbledore starting in the muggle world, perfectly using everything the muggles have to offer, when we know he asks basic questions about muggles 70 years after that in the original series. It was nice to see his brother, but coming back to the point of "telling and not showing", I have to agree with Aberforth when he said "I was there, you don't need to tell me these things". It was so weird to see Dumbledore talking about Ariana as if she was news to Aberforth, or that he just discovered her name. Also, are they gonna explain this new "alternative dimension" power of the deluminator? They didn't mention anything about it, as if it's just an ordinary kind of magic... Anyway, I'll still see the rest of the films in the future because I'm a sucker for the Wizarding World, but I'm probably not gonna invite my friends into it again. Not The Real Gaga 7,482
Also, I would like to remind everybody that Rowling might have a back-end deal (meaning that she will get a share of the total box office profits) - so buying a ticket means that you give your money to the transphobic, hateful person that is J.K. Rowling. Which is especially sad for a movie that is mediocre at best. You can watch it for free on HBO Max in 45 days. Also, if this movie doesn't flop, she will get paid to write a sequel. Nathan 2,079
Nope, and I won’t at the cinema for 2 reasons. 1. the 2nd movie was such a massive waste of time, it didn’t even make sense. 2. As a gay man, I’m not spending any money on JK Rowling/Harry Potter stuff as I know a portion of that won’t only go to anti trans organisations, but also to anti LGBTQIA+ organisations that don’t even want me to get married. **** her
oheyitso 2,493
I had slightly high expectations because of some of the generally positive audience opinions online (plus I love Grace Randolph and she enjoyed it), but I was so disappointed. So many plot holes, such a weak story that it’s clear the whole narrative is just being dragged along for 5 movies when it could be done in 1 or 2. Characters doing sudden 180s in terms of their development, and so little “secrets” - let alone actual scenes where it felt like the queer relationship between Grindewold and Dumbledore was explored with any nuance. More than anything, it was boring Tiktok: owenbybush

HausOfMark 4,167
I just got back from the movie and I loved it. It was so good and going to see it again this weekend. There was just so much information to take it and filled my harry potter/wizarding world heart. -Mark

It still lacked something and I don't know what it is. That ending was... weird? And we could all see what was coming with the plot twist they tried to do in that last important scene. Imo it lacked a little bit of action and a better storytelling. We missed Nagini (I dont think she's coming back) Tina (who was like a main character on the first one but was pushed back on the 2nd and now she's forgotten). Also Credence's story was... kinda sh*tty. Tina was apparently pushed on the side by JKR because she said JKR was wrong to say the things she said. SadBoi808 1,120
Holy sh*t Ive just seen it and can confirm it’s actually really good. i would say it’s because they brought Steve Kloves back as screenwriter, and they should keep him going forward. JO should not be writing these scripts. Crimes Of grindelwald is almost unwatchable. This one had me emotional from the first scene. definitely going to see it again That poor baby Bambi Qilin creature tho, I legit cried 🥺🥺🥺🥺
