Angel Down is probably the best song on the album

Perfect Illusion is bad (and her second worst single after Stupid Love)

Million Reasons is also bad and incredibly overrated

Most of the album is very cringe and she could have done without releasing it because it's her worst release

Soft, soothing, and succulent

Hey Girl is one of Gaga’s best songs ever imo!

I wish she didn’t include songs like DIC and JW on Joanne, so album would feel more cohesive

also, Come to Mama is highly underrated! what an amazing song

i fought in the trenches for Perfect Illusion and i would fight all over again :grr: i LOVE that song, it was just so fresh and new for her

but why did she let it die? :selena: all it got was a bunch of radio interviews, it deserved at least a few crumbs of promo that MR got :selena:

mother, what must i do?

I don't think this one's that unpopular, which is exactly why I opened this thread and wanted to say a nice thing or two about it. :fatcat:

It always puts me in a good mood and leaves me feeling hopeful. I love its simplicity.

A-YO should've been a proper single. Same for Diamond Heart.

Angel Down is the best song on the album, but the mixtape is better than the regular album version.

Just Another Day always puts me in a great mood.

Joanne is a better album than people give it credit for.

And runs and ducks, but Tame Impala's version of Perfect Illusion is way better than Gaga's... :stalkga:

I can't believe you compared PI to that monstrosity called Stupid Love. :bradley:

Mine: Joanne has beautiful moments (DH, MR, Joanne Piano Version & AD are huge standouts) but I don't think it materialized the way Gaga intended. In Gaga 5 foot 2, you can see a lot of stress in her face during the final sessions (when she’s telling Mark to make John Wayne shinier, etc). I also think her concept for the album changed/evolved during the making of the album, which made it feel disjointed at times.

Also, from Gaga’s Zane Lowe Chromatica interview (talking about Joanne):

Spoiler

“I made an album for my father.  I made an album to try to heal my family's trauma and it was beautiful, but at the same time, it was a futile effort, since you can't fix something like that and I had to learn. But it was a big disappointment for me to understand that no matter how much success I have, how many stadiums I pitch, how big I become, I cannot fix my father”

I think Joanne was an experience, a snapshot in time of how Gaga was processing a huge amount of pain and trauma, rather than a concept or fully fleshed out project. And for that reason I view it much differently than any of her other works, but I appreciate it immensely.

Perfect Illusion is perfection. Vocals, production, key change ON POINT. Also, the video is fire.

Million Reasons is overrated as f*ck.  Without the Super Bowl it would have been a total flop, even though is one of her most promoted songs in the US.

Joanne World Tour was an attempt to satisfy the fans. The whole Joanne album roll out was very classy or trashy cowgirl and the tour was totally different. Before the first show I would have never imagined that Scheiße and Bloody Mary were part of the setlist.

Dancing In Cirlces, John Wayne and Diamond Heart were born to be singles.

Joanne photoshoot and the album booklet is her worst by far, even Cheek To Cheek was better. The album cover was cute though.

Gaga said that Joanne was her most personal album, everytime I listen to it I feel it was written by someone else. In my opinion some songs were definitely given to Gaga and she did some changes to make them better, like Come To Mama and Perfect Illusion.

Joanne World Tour had her best vocals ever, after Cheek To Cheek Tour of course!

When we're not together tell me everything's gonna be alright

Well, she performed it on dive bar tour and that Japanese TV show where she was surrounded by that band.

I think part of the reason why she let it die was that the song, though perfect and beautiful, is like a chainsaw tearing apart her vocal chords if sung multiple times. Hance why the tour version was shortened. The other reason may be that she was kinda disappointed by how people reacted to it when it first came out but idk

Not necessarily an unpopular opinion, but this album can be hard to revisit for me sometimes because it came out the year my dad passed and helped me through that. I also listened to it a lot last year when we put down our family dog. It’s a healing album, and I truly think it’s a masterpiece. Some of Gaga’s best writing and every song is a bop. No skips.

Also, Hey Girl and Come to Mama? Criiiiiiiminally underrated.
