I wondered this too but ultimately am not too worried. An Oscar is an Oscar but ones won for songs are undoubtedly viewed differently to those won for acting. An acting Oscar truly is seen as the ultimate, along with best director and picture. Artists from all genres and backgrounds have won song Oscars, even rappers who normally wouldn't be anywhere near the Oscars for any other reason, like Eminem, Common and Juicy J. If anything, I think it might help her credibility if she wins another song Oscar, it'll show she wasn't just one big lucky success with Shallow, like other artists have been as this is an award that a performing artist only wins once (so far, provided they co-wrote it). So, if Gaga wins this again, she'll be the only artist in history who's won 2 Oscars for best original song. This all helps count towards her credibility. The way I see it is, the Oscars want to make her work for a best actress award. She got a best song nomination in 2016, a best actress nomination and best song win in 2019 and narrowly missed out on a best actress nomination in 2021. Add on to that her performing at the Oscars 3 times now and presenting best picture this year. This is all adding up. Throw in another best song nomination/win and it'll be clear that by the time her next big role/s rolls around that it's clear that she's worked hard for this and proved herself. Her winner's arc is improving every year.

Giorgio Moroder said in 2019 they asked him to compose and write songs for the movie (which wrapped filming in 2019 for an original release date in 2020) so yeah she was definitely signed in 2019. At the time she was recording for Chromatica
