So idk what to expect in other nations but protesting peacefully should not result in arrests here in the States :bear: it isn't supposed to at least.

We really don't take about our climate enough. We've made great strides but it's mostly been influenced by business (as in coal is no longer profitable while renewables are getting cheaper and cheaper to produce). We need to step it up and do something drastic for the sake of our planet's ecosystem, not our nations' economies.

Whimsical bitch

One thing that irritates me to no end is how much both economic policies as well as policies for other issues that tie into economy as well indirectly (such as environmental destruction that ultimately will impact economy)...

It's always short term thinking

Spending habits, monetary policy such as interest rates, the way governments choose to stimulate economy, the way we manage environment...

It's always short term gain with long term pain. It's so stupid and almost every Country is guilty of it smh :madge:

This is actually scary y'all. We've already seen natural disasters increase and hotter summers, random winters, etc. For example in Portland, OR it got up to 115°F this past summer, when I lived there 10 years ago the hottest was MAYBE 100.

In Memphis, where I'm from, we just had snow in late March, which is almost un heard of here. Back in February we had crazy cold temperatures and snow and tons of people, including myself, were without power because trees were going down left and right.

Do y'all have any similar stories?

I'm from Tabasco, a state located at the south of Mexico. The heat is unbearable over here. It's the hottest it's ever been. Sometimes I can't get to sleep because of how hot my house is. I can't imagine how worse it's going to be in the future.:bradley:

jacs vs looser

This is actually frightening, the fact that SO MANY scientist from all around the world are willing to protest this way should make us think about how serious the situation truly is.

Them getting arrested fells *a lot* like we're living inside a variation of the Don't Look Up universe.

Are you offended I laughed when I realized the name of your state and the climate? :partysick:
