TaylorSwift 164,241 Posted April 8, 2022 Share Posted April 8, 2022 Belgian health authorities ordered Italian confectionary group Ferrero to suspend production at its plant in Arlon, Belgium, after an investigation into dozens of cases of salmonella linked to the company's Kinder chocolates. Belgium's food safety authority said the factory was ordered to shut after Ferrero was unable to provide complete information for its investigation. Ferrero, which recalled several batches of Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs from shelves in Spain, UK and US, said other Kinder products made at its Arlon site had also been recalled. The Arlon plant accounts for around 7% of total global volumes of Kinder products. Belgium's food safety agency urged consumers not to eat any of the recalled products, which include Kinder Surprise, Kinder Surprise Maxi, Kinder Mini Eggs & Kinder Schokobons. Ferrero has previously described the recalls as "precautionary" and said none of its products released for sale had tested positive for salmonella. It came after more than 60 people in the UK became infected with salmonella in an outbreak linked to Kinder Surprise eggs.
