The LFS era formula was great

Now that we all know she’s performing at the Grammys honestly I think we can say the era has been a good happy medium between too little promotion and being over worked (BTW).

She performed two full live shows at the beginning of the era, along with a virtual one (all of which were televised)

she did the Apple Music interview

After the album was released, she did some shows in Vegas, and then stepped away from the era for a while.

Now she is returning for the Grammys, and there is a documentary planned to come this year with another set of shows in Vegas coming.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind if she kept using this formula in the future, especially if a show or two was outside of the US (think her CTC concert in Brussels, Live at Sydney Monster Hall, or potentially Rock in Rio). And then maybe she can do a residency somewhere like in London. This way international fans still have the chance of seeing her but she doesn’t need to worry about world tours and traveling constantly. Not to mention the live virtual concert could evolve into a more fan interactive event.

Idk, as a fan it didn't even feel like an era. The fact it was all recorded and filmed in 2018 and we'd seen all the looks meant there was no newness or excitement. The quantity of content was fine I guess but the fact it was spread out with the big HOG gap in the middle, plus Dawn of Chromatica, made it feel like an afterthought.

I guess this feeling might have more to do with the actual content though - the fact it's all covers of classics rather than new songs, and the fact there weren't any 'proper' music videos. But then, I'd say I feel a connection to the C2C era even though I never really listened to the album, because it was so distinct as an era. Whereas L4S all I can think of is a couple of the street looks and that's it. And then she switched from brown to blonde throughout the 'era', so it didn't even have a distinct look. Unlike C2C, which had such a specific look.

for me, the album came out and there was a live special... that's it :bear:

i don't really care that much, i'm not big on jazz music anyway but being squeezed between chromatica and HoG, LFS was over in a blink for me :bear:

mother, what must i do?

maybe that was the error 🤷🏼‍♂️

who else but Lady Gaga can release a electronic remix album, jazz duet album, and promote a movie all in like half a year.

at lease that’s something 😅

For me LFS compared to C2C was like Eau De Gaga compared to Fame, it felt like she had to do it because she promised this to Tony, she didn't seem  as excited for this project like she was in C2C era, but of course Tony was absent and couldn't do much more because of his health status so I understand it, but personally these song covers were also kinda meh compared to the songs from C2C.

Well it's a matter of taste I guess. Some people enjoy this 'chameleon' thing she has going on, where she's doing something totally different every day. It certainly shows her versatility, maybe it's more exciting.

Personally I preferred when she got super stuck into an era and committed to a certain look/character/sound for a long period of time. It was so easy to get invested in it. Now it feels like she's juggling too many balls and nothing gets the attention and commitment it deserves, so ends up underdeveloped as a project.

To each their own!

HoG definitely felt like a proper era though to me, the sexy smokey makeup with perfect blonde wigs, and her more fun cheeky personality came out. I guess the fact she could do proper international promo for the first time in years helped too.

So what I’m saying is that if for her next era she did this same formula, it would be a good mix of not too much (BTW) and not too little. So let’s say her next pop era started in September. That would mean she would:

Do a televised concert, let’s say in Sydney

Then go back to NYC and perform at Radio City there, with a special premiering

Then with the album release, she would do a virtual concert and a long interview

Then she could do a residency somewhere, we’ll say London

Then the next year she would perform at the Grammys, release a documentary, and then do a residency in Las Vegas.

as long as it's interesting and accessible, i agree :iamfair:

the problem with the LFS era is that i just wasn't interested in the music

however a london residency? :partysick: as a londoner myself, yes pls

mother, what must i do?

I sometimes wished she released Love For Sale first before Chromatica during 2020 since they kinda already got the material that they needed that was shot 2 years ago then. Chromatica would have been a "fuller" era if it was released 2021 when the pandemic wasn't that strict anymore.

But they didn't really see a pandemic happening during 2020 so that's sad.

I think LFS would’ve been great in 2019 since she didn’t release anything that year and she was promoting her jazz music in Vegas. But honestly Chromatica being released in 2021 wouldn’t have been any different IMO, shes had plenty of opportunities to promote the album the last two years and chose to do other things.
