She was arguably the biggest back during the Roman Reloaded era, so I'm not sure what kind of damage control she's talking about. Maybe she got it confused with the multiple times she's been a terrible human being, and also those several occurrences when she defended child molesters, including marrying one. Talk about selective memory.

her biggest hit before Starships was Super Bass which is another big pop song, so I don’t get it.

She was just following the pop trends at the time. Nothing about those RedOne pop songs was “experimental.”

Not her setting herself apart from pop music when it was what catapulted her to stardom. She even took some notes from Gaga, dressed like her and worked with RedOne to get some of her success. 

She should make some damage control for being a mean person.
