Digital seems useless to me in a way and buying physical singles is a bit of a hassle so I just buy physical CDs of albums I really REALLY love and then I stream all the other music. Did people use those gift cards? i learnt last night that the introduction of the itunes store helped lower music piracy the same way netflix + amazon prime lowered movie/tv piracy! it was cheaper and easier for people to access music when the iPod + iTunes launched being able to spend between cents or a dollar for one song instead of your only choices being a lot more for a physical album regardless of how many songs you like or breaking the law worked out wonders. this was going hand in hand with the age of the iPod, a super accessible way to listen to music on the go that required digital files ...and then paying a monthly subscription for access to millions of songs became the norm mother, what must i do? Just a totally different time lol. I couldn’t imagine life without streaming, I wouldn’t be able to listen to music, bar the YouTube music videos.
