Don McLean slams Adele

Don McLean has slammed Adele for postponing her Las Vegas residency at the last minute.

The 'American Pie' hitmaker has accused the 'I Drink Wine' singer of having no consideration for her fans, who forked out on tickets and booked flights and hotels to attend one of her 'Weekends with Adele' concerts in Sin City, only to be told the shows were delayed the day before the run was due to kick off at Caesar's Palace's Colosseum in January.

Speaking on the 'Greatest Music of All Time' podcast, the 76-year-old singer said: “They are all very rich and very spoiled and they don’t really care about the audience. They think the audience should kiss their a** and that is the opposite to how I feel.”

Don added: “I feel honoured to play for people. I know they are spending money and taking time out of their lives. But I come from a different time.

"Guys like The Beach Boys worked really hard and so does Paul McCartney.”

Yeah this was especially bad.
Adele is cool sometimes, but honestly shame on her for this. She should have taken the reins and been proactive, to show some courtesy and respect to her fans.

ngl, covid has made everything very difficult and it's far from over... if things can't get shipped or built or set up because there's not enough healthy workers then that's nobodies fault  it's a pandemic

To be fair when you’re that get that famous, dealing with the public becomes a very scary, overwhelming, and likely pretty annoying experience. I don’t blame people in the public eye for withdrawing like that. Even Gaga these days.

this is a bit unfair to Divadele since we don't know the entire story and what we know, it's pretty clear she couldn't get the show done properly, not her fault.

Totally true, that said sometimes rejection of the core audience is not a good idea imo. Especially for people who were there since before things got big. Not talking about Gaga particularly.

That's the reason why I'm enjoying much much more stanning some small artists that appreciate their status (Amy Macdonald in my case). The connexion and relationship with fans is much more sincere and it remains strong over years.

Didnt she cancel because of the sound system she didnt like or was that fake news?

 

Cuz if that is the reason she withdrew thats a sh*ty reason to inconvinience people that much. Like if she had any appreciation at all shed realize even if she refunds ppl will loose flight money, hotel and vacation time so she should of just sucked it up even if the sound system wasnt what she ideally wanted. Its called making do with what u got

 

I agree celebs have an overwelming life and hard to please and i often defend them because they arent given enough credit for what they have to go thru. Ppl often act like just cuz they got money their lives are therefore always peachy

 

However it still doesnt excuse a pullout last minute like this if there wasnt a really good reason

okay?  that doesn't mean that the company responsible for adele's concert weren't hit with delays

my point is it's a bit extreme to say she's spoiled and doesn't care, covid has caused crazy long delays all over the world... someone on her team clearly held out hope until the very last second

One Night with Adele being ready, for literally 1 show, filled with rando celebs for promo, and the months-long months-planned residency for regular people being cancelled the day before

Oh sorry for the confusion. I wasn’t referring to her initial reason for cancellation, just about the experience between artists and fans. 
Would be quite disappointed if had tickets to Adele’s show but she doesn’t strike me as someone who would do this if it wasn’t absolutely necessary.

Prove that it’s Adele who’s at fault for the residency being cancelled.

The attempts by the media and the industry to destroy successful women is pathetic. Not a single one of us can put our right hands on our hearts and say it’s Adele’s fault that people are losing their money. 
 

Was it her? The label? The technicalities? The manager? The organisers? The venue?

This is completely paltry, and you all know it. We know how much hatred and press our favourite, Ms GaGa, has received over the years, especially within her own fanbase about the CB. So, have a bit of tact, and have patience, and wait until more clear, concise and factual information comes out about the whole situation.

Still can’t believe she did that. She should have come out and just stood and sang.  Fans would have been just fine with that.   Very unprofessional and inconsiderate of her.
