Stephen 30,266
As a comic book nerd it's so beautiful to see Like they really brought the pages to life... it's the most comics accurate Batman film ever.
elijahfan 24,880
I agree, this is an incredible movie. Not so much a super-hero film, I loved the noir and psychological thriller aspects of it, as well as the horror elements. Yes, it's a long film, but it's not really a problem when the story is as engaging as this one. It went straight to the second position of my favorite Batman films after Batman Returns, I can't wait to see it again. The more I see Matt Reeves movies, the more I realize he might be one of my favorite directors.

I didn't read the comics, but I'm familiar with broad visual elements and it did feel very "comics" to me. I think it was the right balance between Tim Burton's gothic fantasy and Chris Nolan's realism. I loved how dark it was.

It was a very intriguing and satisfying construction.

What he did with The Planet of the Apes reboot was phenomenal. Now he breathing new life into the Batman universe and he nailed it. It will be interesting to see how this series expands. Yes, I agree that this is not really a superhero film. You are definitely correct in your description. A part of me hopes Gaga joins this dark new series in the future. Understandable, as there was a lot of skepticism due to the lackluster Batman movies after Nolan's iconic trilogy. The filmmakers for The Batman have built a really strong foundation for this new series. trolly troll troll

The filmmakers for The Batman have built a really strong foundation for this new series. His movie Let Me In is also really good, even though it's considered inferior to the Swedish film it was based on. There were actually a couple of visual cues from Let Me In spread into The Batman. Spoiler When the District Attorney gets into his car and the Riddler silently sits behind him, or when the Penguin's car rolls over multiple times while the camera stays inside the vehicle are all direct borrows from Let Me In. I also enjoyed how it actually didn't feel like they were trying that hard to set up a franchise... the problem with such tactics is that many movies nowadays feel incomplete and are just there to wheat the audience's appetites for potential sequels (looking at you, Marvel), but this is not the case here. This film could potentially stand proudly on its own, though its current success makes the idea of more content pretty much inevitable.

It honestly didn’t feel that long for me, I loved everything about it from the soundtrack, the detective take on Batman and the dark grimacing world of Gotham. The only criticism I have is I felt like Zoe and Robert had zero chemistry, their scenes together just weren’t good.
phantasmas 9,928
i enjoyed it but that may have been because of the shrooms they need to hurry up and give Zoe her own movies

shelby loved 381
I gave it a 2/5 on letterboxd. It wasn't a great movie. 🐚
Married the Night 3,955
I disagree. The movie was too heavy on dialogue and light on plot. I felt like for a 3 hour movie, there were characters that severely underdeveloped. And then it kept building to a reveal and when they revealed the twist we didn’t even know who the character was? It was so strange. To me, The Batman doesn’t come close to the Nolan Trilogy, The Original Batman or Batman Returns. It’s far from a masterpiece. It IS good though, complaints aside. and yes, it was too long.
thehanyo 4,251
I wanted it to be longer, I loved it so much. Better than Nolan's snoozefest of a trilogy by a mile. (I don't understand how people can complain about a long movie when so many people binge hours and hours of a TV drama. Make it make sense.)
Anderson123 35,627
I can't think of what scenes I'd cut if I had to make it shorter. It's really good from start to finish and doesn't feel like it drags at all. I really like the thriller/mystery atmosphere of it, didn't even feel like a "superhero" movie because they weren't going for that. It just seemed like a Zodiac/Prisoner type of movie with someone who happened to wear a bat suit and I liked it lol. I was very comfy on my recliner seat with lots of food so maybe that had something to do with it feeling the right amount of time. If I had seen it on a regular seat maybe I'd have gotten tired of it.
Bella Goth 1,149
i watch it with recliner seat opt in my local cinema because i know its 3 hours long. im a batman and twilight fans (and rob fans, i watched his movies and yall who got stuck with rob acting on twilight and think its bad should go touch some grass and get a hobby). im gonna tell u its 10/10. i didnt know it ended already. if u expect a fun marvel hero movie then no, it's dark. the casts are gold. its gonna get oscar nominated i fear. the whole cinematography is capture gotham perfectly. i havent watch any trailer nor interview, only see pics that going on internet, and this movie really surprise me. and zoe as catwoman.. shessh she's the moment. and the ridler gosh...
