No. I'd rather have no era than a bad one honestly, Joanne brought me sooo close to unstanning.

Why do you think the Joanne era was bad

Joanne was more interesting than Chromatica. Even non fans talked about Gaga publicly during Joanne era, they asked "what happened to her" and "I'll give her a try". No one except pop fans blinked an eye for Chromatica.

A Star is Born, to me, was Joanne 2 and it was MUCHHHHHH better than Joanne

If you read the OP this is about the era not just the album, I’m not talking about acoustic music.

If she releases good piano ballads, she can go with the flow because there is longevity and it's easy to perform

IMO it felt like she had given in to the critics after ARTPOP and was giving up on everything she'd stood for.

My favourite quote from her is from MTN: "the truth is, the lie of it all was much more honest, because I invented it". All of the artifice and excess was her being authentic, because it allowed her to create the person she wanted to be, unconstrained by reality. I think it's why the LGBTQ+ community loved her so much, she showed you don't have to be what society says you are, you can create and transform into what you want to be.

And I just felt during Joanne she was giving into this boring public cliché that in order to be 'authentic' you need to 'strip back' and look natural and normal, and do acoustic or rock style music. It was her 'personal' and 'raw' album, therefore it needed guitars and a girl-next-door look. Even the Joanne tour and superbowl, which were greatest hits shows, felt like she was doing everything to cater to the GP.

Then of course there are the abysmal MR and Joanne videos, I just couldn't believe an artist of her calibre would release visuals so tacky and awful lol. And one of the most entertaining parts of her eras is always the fashion/styling, which this era was massively lacking. And the interviews were just miserable all the time, coming off as forced and just not enjoyable to listen to.

In hindsight it does kinda seem like a big performance art piece, that she was still playing a character, just another version of herself she wanted to transform into. But idk the timing of it felt forced and it just wasn't an interesting era for me, and it made me question if she was an artist I wanted to support.

Given her bad luck with planning massive era (ARTPOP and Chromatica) do you think it’s time Gaga puts out another era like Joanne where she can kinda plan as she goes?

But part of the reason ARTPOP and chromatica were bad eras was because she was planning as she was going.

All gaga needs to do is just make sure everything is planned and ready to go before the album is even announced. I can’t believe they haven’t figured that out yet and I can’t believe an artist of her level continues to have so many setbacks and cancellations. IMO gaga just doesn’t care anymore. She’ll continue to release just 1-2 singles, 2-3 mvs, and greatest hits tours
