Is it time for another Joanne?

Before y’all freak out, I don’t mean sonically specifically. I mean an album and era that doesn’t take too much “planning” or take years in the making. When you look at Gaga’s solo albums, all of them (I’m including TFM with TF here) except for Joanne took at least 2 years to make, and had or were suppose to have distinct eras or concepts to follow. In a sense, Joanne stands alone in being a sort of “reason to be here” era, where concept takes a back seat and gives Gaga a reason to do things like perform at the Super Bowl, headline Coachella, and go on essentially a greatest hits tour. Given her bad luck with planning massive era (ARTPOP and Chromatica) do you think it’s time Gaga puts out another era like Joanne where she can kinda plan as she goes? (Remember that Coachella wasn’t originally hers, The Cure release was spontaneous, the Joanne piano version).

Personally I’d much rather her take 6 months to make another album and throw together an era as she starts the promo, rather than wait another 2 years for a concept album and era that could end up like ARTPOP or Chromatica.

i wouldn't mind a Joanne act II :usrs:

my only thing is i definitely think Joanne had a strong concept but it was supposed to be like her anti-concept.. if that makes sense

I’m not sure how Joanne’s era was spontaneous. but I’m here for Joanne 2.0 tbh.

At least to me it seems spontaneous, I mean the bulk of the album didn’t even come into existence until spring 2016 when Gaga started working with Mark, and they essentially scrapped a whole album to push Joanne out. Just the way I remember it happening, it seems like they made it so Gaga could have an era and she could do the Super Bowl (her saying they played them the album and they liked it) and then the whole thing about Coachella was spontaneous. It definitely didn’t have the time her other eras had to develop so I’m sure that impacted a lot.

ok, I see what you mean now, thanks. yeah, Joanne definitely felt more organic as an era, if it makes sense idk. maybe planning everything in advance doesn’t work well for miss Gaga, but I think Chromatica is tough one, because no one knew that pandemic would happen, so gays lost. but I absolutely adore Joanne’s era, it wasn’t messy and it had a lot of great moments imo.

My dream would be an album called Angelina, because her middle names are Joanne Angelina.

In my delulu dream, it's basically the dark B-side to Joanne, but still a simpler honest story. With sounds similar to Electric Chapel.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

The Coachella weeks were so good tho, i remember all the screaming here when we watched the octopus video. The concert was so cute with the intro, one of my fav from her, just to see her happy on stage was so enjoyable. The Cure ofc, just fun and sweet on the moment, we needed a video but oh well it's past now.
I see what you mean by unplanned era, i kinda agree, it seemed more going with the flow and with what she was feeling. I wouldn’t mind an album or ep coming off out of nowhere for a short era, as long as the concept is exciting and visuals too. Chromathicka was a huge concept that seemed pre-planned, and with covid it all fell down cause not much could take place. I still think her team could had taken advantage of it with virtual events, concerts, music videos with video games concepts or som but it was complicated for everyone to know what to do so its normal.

I actually though about this too :messga: Like obviously Gaga’s discography could be full of concept albums, but she could take “breaks” with them by releasing multiple albums like Joanne, having an Angelina one, a Stefani one…

Don't remind me :fail: she announced the show and new songs and then she was like “okay, bye” but she didn't say it :air:

Gaga said she didn't do it for fame, she did it for impact. If that's her intention then I don't even think another Joanne-esque era is what's missing, she needs to go back to the drawing board and re-evaluate everything.

By that, I also mean if she really wants to put out pop music anymore. As much interest I would lose if she doesn't (not appreciation), I would rather she sticks to her roots than keep putting out half-assed and scrapped eras. An artist of her caliber should be presented better.
