You would think Aretha Franklin's granddaughter would have enough links to the music industry to not have to audition for American Idol for exposure... no? This really surprised me tbh.

Glad for the girl she was trying. She has a beautiful voice and I'm sure she has a lot of talent in general, but she was clearly not ready to audition yet

I think they invited her to perform, she got exposure and American Idol could use her grandma name.
She said her process was a different than other contestants.

I mean, she's also only 15 though...For a 15 year old, she's leaps and bounds better than most people.
