The Joker and the Queen is such a bad song. I was so disappointed in it. The fact that it charted at all is just because their names are on it.

I haven’t listened to Nicki’s.

Leaving outside Nicki because lol she's over, but i fail to see HOW the two supposed biggest force of music industry join forces on one track and it flops? Suddenly they don't have fans anymore? Suddenly radio stop spamming them? Suddenly Spotify don't put them in every playlist existent on earth?

I repeat it again: their success is fake, especially hers when she does those extraordinally huge numbers but no one in real world seems to know her.

Now drag me, WP me, call me a hater, nut you won't change my mind.

Well yeah of course it's flopping, it's hardly being pushed?  Ed already has two songs still in the top 10 and both of them are still in heavy rotation on the radio which is where most of his success derives from (that's always been how his songs manage to linger). Neither of those songs was replaced by this one, and as a matter of fact I don't even think it's been sent to pop radio properly yet. It doesn't have playlist support which means it wasn't pursued. Song's don't just get playlisted, labels and management have to actively pursue positions on the biggest playlists.

They've also neither one lifted a finger for it? A video that neither artist is even in, and neither were particularly involved in off camera, no performance, Taylor has not even posted about the song on any of her social medias, it's a remix of a song from Ed's album that was not originally a single to begin with, the album it's the fourth single from the album, the album is currently at #20 on the BB200 and is about to fall out of it, and Taylor's streams are still coming from Red (TV) which she is still actively promoting through playlisting.

Why with all of that would it smash? The biggest artists in the world still have to actually do something to make their music hold on. That's why Gaga and Beyonce both struggle now a days to make significant dents on the album and singles charts respectively.

I think Ed songs like Shivers & Bad Habits are still in top 10 because these are radio friendly songs and The Joker And The Queen isn't.

I think it's more about people just not liking it. I mean, look at how Perfect performed- even without the Beyoncé feature. Shame because imo the Joker and the Queen is the best of that album so maybe that says it all?

I don’t think you can say their success is fake because one song falls short of top 20 in the US. First, it’s a remix of a song that’s been out since October, so not as many people will be racing to hear it. Also, this is their fourth collaboration together, so the hype isn’t the same as it would be if 1) it was a new song and 2) it was the first time they’d ever joined forces. They’re also both artists who have been around for over a decade who have still had huge hits this past year, it’s not that no one pays attention to what they do. You could say the same thing about Gaga’s singles, she has recent hits but that doesn’t mean every single cracks the top 20.
