Yeah but sis look at the context. She is at an awards show. Do you think she would be tweeting a well thought out comment and be on her phone while she is at a party/awards show. I couldn't even call my parents or text them while I'm out partying and imagine someone expects you to do homework and do research so you can post your red carpet look while at an awards show. She may or may not talk about it in future tweets but she doesn't have to.

Gurl, then don't you think she should have left talking about Ukraine either BEFORE or AFTER the awards show? Like, we know she likes to take her time to really think about these things usually

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

:saladga::toofunny: Some of you all need a hobby. Celebrities aren't super heroes. As much exposure and awareness they can bring, they don't have an obligation to follow the script you want them to say from your head. She is in an awards show. She probably tweeted this and thought about it for 2 minutes.

This. Celebrities are flawed people. I look up to Gaga for her work with LGBTQ rights and her anti bullying campaign and her philanthropy, but I hardly think she's an expert on politics. Wanting the internet to drag celebrities for mildly or even medium cringe sh*t on political/social causes—unless it's the Putin's mom poem from that Anna girl, as that deserved a dragging, or something truly racist/bigoted/etc.—is dumb. If a politician posted this, I'd get the anger. A celeb posting thoughts and prayers about a situation that likely know little about...whatever.

People need to stop expecting so much out of celebrities and instead put these expectations on politicians.  And also people are interpreting what they want into Gaga's words instead of just taking it at face value, which is basically thoughts and prayers.

Is it cringey for an actress to take a selfie in a designer gown, dripping in diamonds, sending "smiles" to a nation being savaged by war? Yes.

Is it fair, given her extensive history of philanthropy and incredibly generous sprit, to give her the benefit of the doubt? Yes.

Both things can be true.

Voting, educating myself, donating when financially able to, spreading awareness, unlearning behaviors, not avoiding hard topics, conversing and debating…

But everyone's already doing that?!

See, I don't want to be rude and your anger at the war is justified. But let's not use this anger to criticize those who we know are on the right side of history. Criticize politicians, war tactics etc. But criticizing someone for expressing love for the Ukrainians is just so pointless to me.

Good god y'all suck sometimes. Go spread your pessimistic nonsense somewhere else :rip:

She always has something positive, constructive, and/or caring to say. Usually all three. How anyone could fault her for sending her love publicly is beyond me.

AMEN :applause:

How about instead of sitting on Gaga's fansite complaining that she isn't doing enough, y'all go do more? There's PLENTY of resources out there that you could give to (and you can assume she's giving more than most of us could). Plenty of info you could share online. Plenty of elected officials you could be writing. Plenty of protests you could be joining. Plenty you could be doing instead of getting mad at a lady for saying some nice words.

It’s valid to criticize her. It’s not tearing her down… tearing her down would be sh*tting on her album not saying “I’m praying and sending smiles to a country being invaded.” This is ending in bloodshed and can’t be solved by prayers.

I’m not hating on her but it’s pretty weird and insensitive when I’ve seen other artists show how to donate and make change.

You are so out of touch it’s insane.

It’s clear that you don’t actually care if your first thought went to how this compares to what other artists do as if it’s a competition.
