Allowing Russia to get away with invading a sovereign nation just seems so wrong and sets a bad precedent. Giving weapons and supplies at any time is a one-off deal with no casualties for the respective country. But entering a conflict/war could lead to an engagement that lasts years. It's a bad precedent but most countries that are actually able to help don't have to be afraid because they are mostly too intimidating to be invaded.
