Gave it a second watch, and I still like the tonal shift they did because almost all of the older films felt the same aesthetically besides the god awful 80s era. The movie is a definitely a cash grab and a complete ripoff of the Latest Halloween reboot. Laurie Strode from Halloween and Cidney Campbell from Scream were justified and fleshed out legacy characters, Sally on the other hand, not at all. If she would have had more backstory and character development it could have been a very powerful showdown, instead she’s on screen for 5 minutes total and dies. Leather-face was the only character I “liked” and that’s a stretch itself alone. All of these characters were extremely unlikable even in the instance where the chapters are purposely written to be disliked by the audience. I felt no connection to any of the characters. The horror aspects felt cheap, predictable and like your basic torture p*rn (saw). It’s worth a watch, maybe twice if you really want to fully understand the movie. Shocked and upset.

Money!  It’s not like they’re trying to tamper with the original, they’re just trying to cash in on a franchise, like all franchises!

I didn’t find it scary but I could see why someone who isn’t a huge fan of horror movies would find it scary.

It has good sceenography and effects and some shots are looking amazing but the writing is just horrible and off-putting. Also this movie is another case of having unlikable cast of protagonists.

It was quite fun for a movie that I was expecting it to be a complete disaster.

Spoiler

Moe Dunford as Richter was a cool character and such a shame he died so quick. The smashing was so brutal though. I can't believe they brought Sally (the only legacy character back) only for her to die in such a funny way and in like 5 minutes. The whole "I've been waiting for this moment for 50 years" telling the girls about it was quite funny like girl drive way lmao. I don't know if their whole intention was to make it a Laurie parody or not because it had several comedic parts with the woke cast and the cancellation.

Gosh I remember I used to watch these films. They're very disturbing I don't understand how I watched them! Just plain cruelty! The ones that stuck with me the most are the original, 2003 remake, and the Next Generation.

I watched it last night and I enjoyed it. I mean, at least is better than Texas Chainsaw 3D, of which I hated every second.

If you want to see a slasher for the fun of it, you may like it. If you're looking for a good and meaningful story, you won't find it here (there's barely any story tbh).

The main characters are kinda annoying at first, but I was rooting for them by the end of the movie and the ending actually took me by surprise. The only thing that pissed me off:

Spoiler

There was absolutely no need to bring Sally back. That plot added nothing to the movie, in fact it felt disrespectful to the original to bring her back just to kill her off like that. If they were actually trying to make a parody of Laurie Strode, they failed miserably.

This movie wasn’t fun. And thats what I look for in a slasher film. Is there repeat value? No. Was the plot entertaining? No. Were the kills great? Yes.

But without a plot and/or like-able characters…the film lost me. Also, you could tell instantly the film was not filmed in Texas. And that is the most important point of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. 😐
