Chromatica.  It's my favorite album but she spent two seconds on promoting it before going right back to movie star stuff

From her solo albums? Least impactful? Honestly Joanne, like gurl it didn’t really do much for her career or elevate it really. It was very much oh cute from the GP, everything about the whole her era was cute, next. The audience that was meant to be captured by Joanne was more so captured by Cheek to Cheek or her ASIB music.

Probably Chromatica. Joanne was significant to mark a turning point in her singing style/image etc. ARTPOP is too important among fans.

The only thing about Chromatica that is "important" is probably Rain on me (including the Grammy win and number 1 debut), you could take out the rest and we would still be where we are...

Chromatica.

It's not that I didn't like the album, but it didn't really bring anything new to the table, also she snubbed the sh1t out of it "cause of covid" while other artists was out and about putting new materials and promoting like crazy in all this covid-mania.

I know u r gonna be mad that I say this, but for me Chromatica is the era where gaga basically decided to put her music career aside for a little to focus more on her acting career.

I mean it’s Chromatica let’s be honest, feel like the GP barely even know it exists apart from RoM. The interviews I watched it’s like Gaga was basically persuaded into completing the album by Bloodpop, I really don’t think she cared too much for it and that’s why she paid the era dust.

Chromatica :selena: I love the album... But that's not the problem

It had the potential to be THE era and it turned out to be a huge missed opportunity. I think it really damaged the way I see the album. Great visuals and cool concept, tho :fatcat:

I'm still mad... Everyone figured out a way to promote their projects during the pandemic and her team did nothing :bradley: I can't blame her... We know she had a rough time during the pandemic but her team should've done SOMETHING... I don't know, at least lyric videos with great visuals for each song...

Chromatica.

TF, TFM and BTW all contributed to her rise as a pop superstar.

ARTPOP contributed to her temporary fall from grace.

C2C and Joanne (along with Sound Of Music and Superbowls) contributed to her comeback and her establishment as a GP fav. I suspect Joanne wasn't huge in all that, but it was a part of it

ASIB put a big fat cherry on top of the above and moved her towards Streisand territory with the GP.

L4S is the final album of the beyond legendary Tony Bennett.

Chromatica is a terrific album imo, great sound, great songs, but it hasn't added or subtracted much in overall terms as far as I can see. The night is young though. It may yet produce one of the most acclaimed concert tours in history.

It makes no sense to include Chromatica as its overall influence may not be visible now but it can impact her next albums sound.

Imagine you would have asked this question in 2014. What would have been your answer?

she paid the era dust because there's a global pandemic :messga: if she didn't care, she wouldn't have had all those scrapped plans

If you count LFS, definitely that one :poot:

Otherwise, objectively, ARTPOP and BTW (as much as they are considered her best work by many people) are the only ones that could have never happened without changing the way her career went.

The Fame -> Put her in the map, so it's definitely one of the most defining ones

The Fame Monster -> Made her perceived as an A-list pop icon and not a newcomer even if she was still a fairly new artists

Cheek To Cheek -> Gaga and Tony could've met anyway and decide to do an album together if  you take away BTW or AP, but I don't think what came after could have happened without CTC

Joanne -> without joanne, there wouldn't have been the superbowl performance, which was definitely one of the most memorable moments in her whole career. And most importantly: without Joanne I don't think we could've had ASIB

ASIB -> needless to say why it can't be erased (even if, imo, its her weakest musical body of work and musically its the most superfluous one for me)

Chromatica -> After such a long time without going back to her dance pop roots, an album in that direction was needed imo.

Mister G

That’s such an unfair question. Every album served its purpose. The Fame put her on the map. The Fame Monster turned her into a global superstar and force to be reckoned with. Born This Way gave her the spotlight as an ally and advocate for the disenfranchised and marginalized. ARTPOP introduced us to a degree of HyperPop and was a moment of misunderstanding while she was still discovering who she is when everyone turned their backs on her. Joanne was a personal stripped back approach on her career without the lavish hair and costumes and a reflection on her family and what her late aunt meant to them.

And everyone’s current trauma trigger, Chromatica. People starved for 7 years for a 100% Pop/Dance album and gave us some strong bops. Hell even Rain On Me won her another grammy. And let’s be honest; Chromatica was her 2nd attempt with an ARTPOP styled imagery. ARTPOP had to occur so that Chromatica could 7 years later.

Everything she’s done since 2008 has had a purpose to keep pushing her career forward.

Chromatica TBH. Also, regardless of whether you like ARTPOP/Joanne they served as important milestones that shifted her career trajectory and shaped it into what it is Today.

Literally this. Love love love Chromatica, but it didn’t change her career by any means. Think about it:

The Fame: her breakthrough

TFM: catapulted her into superstardom

BTW: International superstar

ARTPOP: the fall of a pop star

Joanne: the pivot/resurgence of a pop star

ASIB: movie star and further music pivot from pop

C2C/L4S*: pivot to jazz music with a living legend

*Grouped C2C and L4S together as niche projects that are equally important in highlighting her ability to sing Jazz

Chromatica showed us she can return to electronic dance music after so many years (which was an important reminder, don’t get me wrong), but in terms of *lesser* importance in the context of her entire career, you could remove it from her discography and it would impact her career the least. That being said, all projects have been powered by promo campaigns and obviously Chromatica was a special case due to the pandemic, understandably.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.
