Why the color dig? The lead role is a person of color. How many TV shows geared to white fans have a lead that's a person of color. She wasn't in the show from the begining and she wasn't even in the last season. She probably would have had much less screen time. But I applaud her for trying to negotiate a better salary instead of just taking what was offered.

Aslo, isn't the actress that plays Scott's mom Native American or part Native American? Did Dateline say Arden was the only person of color or was that Pop Crave's input.

Ah yes, all American tv shows are geared to white people so we can stop paying all coloured actors and just tell them to be happy to be a part of anything

But do we really need this movie at all in the first place? Wasn't it enough with most of the series being a cringe fest? :samanthac:

Deadline Article: According to sources, Cho, the only actress of color among the four female series regular cast members who played the group of teen friends at the center of the show, was offered half the per-episode salary proposed to her three counterparts, leading to her decision to pass. Cho recurred in Season 3 and was a series regular in Seasons 4-5.

I think the 'colour dig' is because she is the only POC of the four female series regulars not because she is the only POC on the show.

And in terms of taking what is offered, she doesn't have to take it if she knows that she isn't valued where she should be, we don't know what the script would look like and how much each actress would be in the film so idk if we can really speak on if that was a good choice on her part but I doubt she would have declined if it wasn't appropriate pay

Oh so she was the only female of color "in the group of teenagers." It's very specific. Because if you've seen the show Scott's mom is a series regular who had way more screen time than Arden did but she isn't a teenager.

I still loved Arden's character. I still use Kitsuné as part of my gaming name in certain games and the Kitsuné lore is one of the best story lines in the entire series.

I think this isn't as big as Deadline is trying to make it out to be for clicks.

I'm glad she tried to get a better salary though.

Depends on what the role was, was it secondary? If it wasn't then that's racism

She was one of Scott’s girlfriends, she was a main character for 2 seasons. I couldn’t see her having much to do in the movie. The writers actually wrote her out of the show with the intention of giving her a spin off based on her character but it never came together.

Makes sense if she wasn’t even a big part of the show, but you’re the one that needed to start by justifying not paying a person of colour the same because the movie’s for white audiences

I would have loved a show with her. That Kitsuné story line was the best other than season one.
