The Search For Gaga's Songs (PureVolume, Myspace, Bob Leone)

So.... way back last year I had a thread on GGD that was really cool, it was where we theorized about bringing back dead links to things like Retros-xual and Musicland and We Are Plastic and all those lovely 'once - were' songs on Gaga's old Myspace and Purevolume accounts.

I thought I might start that thread up again once more, to re-brainstorm possible avenues of advertising / reaching out to people who may have downloaded those songs 6 or 7 years ago.

Here's an initial idea -- we brainstorm a way to create a video that succinctly advertises to anyone (Gaga fan or not) who is browsing YouTube, asking if they might have downloaded those songs or know more about them in any way or can offer more information.

Then we promote the heck out of our slick advertisement all over the Gaga areas we all frequent, and perhaps even on our own personal social networking, to reach the broadest possible audience. Whatever we can do to get the message out there that we are looking very keenly for this material and we are very motivated to find it.

I seriously am pondering renting space in newspaper classified ads.

If any of you live in New York, this might be an especially good idea in local areas near where Gaga used to play clubs and dives.

Example of opening dialouge for our film:

"Were you a music collector / hipster / frequenter of the New York dive bar scene in mid 2005-2008? Did you ever frequent sites like Myspace or PureVolume back during that time? Did you regularly download, buy, collect, or sell indie CD's or bootlegs made by artists that the artists sold at shows? If so, we would like to ask you if there is any chance you might have held on to or remember THESE songs and albums from a then little known artist by the name of Stefani Germanotta:"

Sample of a wanted song:

Sites of where this stuff was availible at one time:

If we can put together something that's quick, (30 seconds, 60 seconds at most)

professional (well worded, artful imagry -- to-the-point 'message' advertising)

in both video and print through newspaper -- we might stand a far higher chance of getting these most coveted sounds than the disgusting hacking / fruitless begging of Joe Vulpis/Bob Leone.

So, this thread is for brainstorming! I want all of your opinions, ideas, thoughts, potential theories!

Have at it, loves!

Special Edit: I received some more info on the quiet auction with Bob Leone and Gaga.

"Bob Leone's auction got canceled at the request of Gaga('s representatives). Nobody outbid anybody. Leone then sold the CDs to her for an undisclosed amount of money. He made no copies, which he was also not allowed to do as part of the deal."

Great idea.

My friend Isaac is the one who got me into Gaga... I crossed referenced his audio and he has absolutely nothing I don't already have. :( Other than him, I don't know anyone else whose been a fan longer than me, except for a select GGD people and they don't have anything that we don't already have.

Doesn't Google archive the Internet? If someone emailed them asking if they have archived those pages from 2005 - 2008 maybe they can give us a link!

Elizabeth

This sounds like a good idea, there must be at least someone who (maybe unknowingly) has some of these songs saved on their computers somewhere!
