RS: the dirtiest thing about kim petras’ slut pop? it’s produced by dr. luk

Almost every major artist has worked with Dr. Luke who is signed with that label. So just to attack Kim is downright disgusting. Also, Kim never defended him. The question was asked if he ever sexually assaulted her or made her feel uncomfortable in the studio and she said no. I think it's kind of weird that Kim would release such a sexually suggestive album given the controversy surrounding Dr. Luke but Kim does not have a choice who producers her songs. She is under a contact. Additionally, if you all feel this way don't stream any songs produced by Dr. Luke.

If you got any problem with Kim's music just don't stream it.

BTW I don't know why Kesha remembered she has been raped after she got all the money and success she was after for.

Disgusting

Dont come for Kim when there are SO many other famous ones rn working with dr Luke and what she's doing is SO important as the first famous trans pop star ever

Avoid dr Luke as MUCH as you can with Katy or Doja but DON'T come for Kim. She has no one to relate to and has to pave her own way all on her own. It doesnt excuse her work with him, but the way she has to fight for everything brings a lot more nuance to the conversation than it does with like kid Leroi or something

Your username is Peace? This is not it. Kesha is a victim, be ashamed.

having credits on songs you're not worked with just because of a contract? this should be illegal, why is nobody battling this? it sound to me that she just want to save her skin...

You’re kidding, right? That’s basically how the industry functions lmao movie producer credits are tossed around in a similar fashion

Why aren't they coming for Saweetie ? Ne-Yo ? kid Laroi ?

Always against a trans woman, always against the same person, always in Kim's face and you'll have some excuses for other artists

Well ...

Um I’d say it’s because this site doesn’t listen to those artists? Lol meanwhile Kim plays in the same pond as Gaga so there’s bound to be fan base crossover, AND she gets praised by the gays left and right as these other artists do not.

this isn’t some crusade against a trans woman and tbh it feels weird that that’s what you jump to rather than the glaringly obvious reason I noted.

I could be wrong here, but to me it seems the reason Kim was singled out is because she has an EP called Slut Pop and it is produced by Dr. Luke. Not simply because of her collaboration with Luke. People mentioning Kid Laroi and Doja are missing that aspect. The Lady Gaga mention is icing on the cake. I am certain if any of these other artists released similar material with Luke they would be under similar scrutiny.

Because Kim defended Dr Luke in an interview and said that she loved working with him while Doja said that she’s stuck in a contract and can’t wait to get out of it.

no she did not.

hmm it's not really how contracts works, he needs to physically be in the studio and creating, if no, it's illegal and he's taking credit from someone else, this contract needs to be between him and another ghost producer and not between him and Doja.

so who produced these songs?

I'm not "coming" to Doja or something, the whole situation looks strange with the 2 artist.

You do not need to be in the studio actively being a part of the creative process of a song to be credited.

There are some people who are credited on songs that do not even speak with the artist or other producers. Beyond that, in order to be eligible for credit, all you had to have done is work on a small insignificant portion of a song. Sometimes as minor as changing one or two lyrics in a completely separate session from the actual recording and production of a song. Sometimes just having the been the one who produced a demo beat years and years ago until a new producer came along and built on it means you get a credit. Sometimes, you get credit on a song even if it's just because there's a vocal line similar to or an interpolation of an entirely different song, and that song does not even have to be a song that was actually released, it can just be a discarded demo.

It has been well known for years that Dr. Luke has it written into contracts with his artists that he will be credited on the songs even if he doesn't actually touch them because they're song's produced under the umbrella of his production company. As mentioned above, Doja signed this contract with him before the allegations came out and is stuck in this contract until it expires. She has stated she is not actively working with him anymore but because of this crediting rule in the contract (which is 100% legal and accepted by the recording academy because he isn't taking credit for anyone's work, he's simply asking to be credited alongside them), he has to be credited whether he's there in the studio or not.

But gurl it’s still the same outcome, you can’t be one of those people that attempts to stream/buy Doja’s music while saying you‘ll boycott Kim’s music because she doesn’t feel guilty while Doja does. Intentions aren’t impactful here. Dr. Luke still gets his coin when you support Doja. So for those who are bringing morals into the conversation, please proceed to boycott every song/artist associated with Luke, you’ll find he’s got credits everywhere even to this day. C’mon girlies boycott Katy’s old music while your at it. You know what let’s boycott the victim Kesha as well since she’s still under him. Let’s boycott Rainbow and High Road y’all. Not people here acting like everything they consume is made by saints. Please it’s getting ridiculous.
