If it's just another group of ancient old men with sticks up their asses then it would make sense. Would also make sense why Power of the Dog received soooo many noms (old people love that sh.it) The acting branch vote for acting nominees. It's not "old men", Salma Hayek, Kirsten Dunst, Penelope Cruz, Meryl Streep, etc are all members. Also, weird take on The Power of the Dog considering the director just made history as the first woman to be nominated for Best Director twice. Fanta 5,019
Kinda random but my thoughts on everything are that ultimately it came down to a not-so-good directing of the film and unnecessary interview bites. Looking back now, those are the two things I feel contributed (one obviously more than the other) to the nomination snub. That aside, top-notch actresses and actors get snubbed all the time. Gaga isn't even on their caliber yet and the competition this year was tough - I'm sure she can earn one in the future. I also hope she chooses her directors wisely next time, people were raving about Ridley but looking at his list of films and what he was trying to portray with Gucci was like trying to make oil and water happen. She should go down the Olivia Colman route if she is desp of that acting Oscar... or do action films and be the next Angie if she wants a long big-screen acting career... or do a series that is NOT by Ryan Murphy

Arloway 147
I don't think the Academy will invite her though. If she wants to attend she need to lay low and kinda beg for them to let her in...I mean after they shut you out ruthlessly, is it really worth it? Sitting at the 25th row all night and still get exploited by the Academy's PR team is not really worth it. She should attend Bafta and SAG instead. If y'all think she need to mingle with the industry, Bafta is a pretty good chance. People there are also industry people, but the ones that recognize her talent and her effort. Why not go there and interact with people that actually appreciate you? She's already a winner and 3-time nominee. I don't think the "Oscar politics" will work for her anymore as they did before she's in the game. It's absolutely not petty to not attend and let them have their own party. YourEvilTwin 1,379
She should totally stay away until she has another film in contention. The entire award business is on a massive downward trajectory and they need her more than she needs them. Her absence will be felt on the circuit. Give them a chance to miss her. EGOT2027 10,894
she probably won't be invited tbh without a nomination and with covid stuff. (if someone isn't nominated as an actor, they are often there bc their film is nominated for BP or something.) i personally loathe the tendency of the academy to under-nominate (or not nominate) films like crazy rich asians or spider-man but then try to use those actors as presenters / for ratings. she shouldn't give into that. there was a rumor at one point that the academy wanted toby maguire, andrew garfield, and tom holland to co-host, and it's like...stop using people for ratings if you aren't going to celebrate their work! we had similar complaints about the grammys in years past
MOT 3,064
I don't think it's usually a huge crowd. Would there be many people there other than nominees and their dates? Anyway, if Gaga is invited of course she should go. What else is she going to do, throw her toys out of the tram ? I hope she's there and I hope she stops the traffic. SKANK 14,288
Unless she is going as a presenter, which may be a bit awkward given how much chatter is happening about her "snub," I don't see why she would attend. Maybe to support Freddie? The only time she attended the Oscar's without a nomination in the past was to fulfill her obligations as a spokesperson for Versace. She was named their brand ambassador for the Spring/Summer of 2014, so she attended the Oscar's and after parties with Donatella. Gaga's first time attending the Oscars was for business, not for her art, which I have a feeling she wasn't thrilled about. We have lots of awards and red carpet moments coming up for Gaga, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Oscar's isn't one of them.
