Yes, today ****ing sucked. There's no other way to put it. This entire journey has been torturous and in the end Film Twitter won. There's no sugary drink in the world that'll make that bitter pill go down easier.

But you know what, a part of me is actually glad that this is over. Why? Because if HoG proved anything, it's that she totally has what it takes to win for a MUCH better film in the near future.

And these better films, they are coming. You can trust me on that. She just singlehandedly carried an adult drama without special effects to $150 million at the box office, all while Omicron threw the world back into lockdown. Literally no one else in Hollywood has that kind of power - the last two years have proved that.

The entire industry is salivating. You know how many prestige directors struggle to get their projects funded these days? Gaga did that for Ridley before the pandemic - HoG was stuck in development hell for over a decade before she came onboard.

So imagine the level of negotiating power she has now. For the foreseeable future, any prestige parts intended for her age group will go through her first. Talks are probably already underway, and we'll start hearing about them in the coming months.

So be sad, but know that you don't have to be. Best Actress is a cluster**** this year and is unlikely to produce a winner that'll be looked at kindly in the future (unless Penelope wins) -  that extends to Gaga's would-be win as well, and we all know it.

So instead, be excited about what's to come. Because when she comes back, she's NOT going to be dragged down by a weak film and have to fight in the mud to stay alive in the race. She's going to steamroll her way to the throne and we are going to enjoy every second of it.

Eh, honestly it's just an oscar. She already has one. Yes, it's not for best actress but there's literally nothing she has to prove here. If prestige and awards are what she's going for, she just needs to select a better project next time.

I mean it's only her 2nd movie... there is more to come and she has plenty of time to win an actual Oscar for her acting and I'm 100% sure that some day she will get it.

just let people be? this entire website has been dedicated to following every single twist and turn of this race for months. of course people are going to be upset that something they invested a lot of their time in didn't go their way. that's like getting mad at someone for being upset if their team loses the super bowl.

in this garbage world people latch onto things like awards races and sports stuff to put their hopes into since the actual world is so disappointing, especially right now. if you think people are investing too much mental energy into this...the literal point of this forum is to discuss this stuff lol

and finally, i think more than anything folks are upset/annoyed that pretentious film people (and annoying straight people who still hate everything she does) will use this as "proof" that gaga is not a good actress when in reality this film received massive commercial success and gaga's performance received critical acclaim with or without an oscar nom

No one here is claiming "film twitter" sent a swarm of flies after them, they are just dealing with the surprise and disappointment of today's nominations.

In a few days this will be forgotten and people will go back to asking for ARTPOP Act II and lusting over pictures of Shawn Mendes walking a dog. 

Being dramatic is a gay privilege, don't take it too seriously.

Exactly. She was nominated for a SAG award AND a BAFTA, which is why this is considered a "snub." 

Most actors have never been nominated for a SAG award and/or a BAFTA, you know?

I think she needs a better movie and a different way of campaigning.

We know that every time Gaga talks about her current project it’s always the most important and most painful thing she’s done, she’s that extra. It doesn’t bother us because we’re used to it and know she’s genuine, but for normies it comes off as fake and off putting.

When she’s campaigning for her next movie I need her to relax and let the work speak for itself, that’s why she needs a great movie that doesn’t need her to do much explaining, people will see what she’s doing and get her.

An Oscar is high praise, also increases her pay check and gives her higher status as an actress. However there have been many actors and actresses that starred in amazing roles that never got an Oscar.
