It's her 7th movie (not including cameos). Her first nomination was for Best Supporting Actress. Just re-watched moonstruck. It's such a good movie with unique charisma. It's the kind of movie that stuck in your head once you watched it. When Gaga is offered a project like this, she will also ace it with the gold. ThisBitch 3,436
She deserved a nomination, but it's not the end of the world. She's still an Academy Award winner and Best Actress nominee, a two time BAFTA best actress nominee (maybe even winner) and a 12 time Grammy winner. She's a superstar and a living icon! I wish her fun with her next movie, make a romcom.
Zilla 13,384
At first I was really really REALLY annoyed she was snubbed, but this is her second movie and if she keeps trending upward like she is, it’ll happen eventually. We are blessed we still have the Grammys to look forward too she diversified her portfolio THAT well 𝙸'𝚖 𝚊 𝚓𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚓𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚘𝚏 𝚐𝚒𝚛𝚕. Sunny21 608
It's a strange year. No newbies. Five veteran actresses, each with at least 2 decades of experience and 50 film/TV/stage projects under their belt. Kristen's on her first nom. Jessica's on her third. Olivia, Penélope, and Nicole are Oscar winners with multiple nominations. Kristen could win... Presumably some voters felt bad about her SAG snub and voted for her. Regina King (If Beale Street Could Talk, 2018) was the presumed frontrunner until she was SNUBBED by SAG (and BAFTA), but she was nominated for her first Oscar... and won. she/her/hers

dit 46,457
i'm kind of shocked. I really thought she'd be nominated. I didnt think she'd win but I was 100% certain she'd be nominated. This feels wrong but it is what it is and Gaga will have other opportunities I hope... I sort of blame the fact that the rest of the cast was rated so poorly by most critics and that the film was not seen favorably by many critics... frustrating. mindintransit 465
If I took a few days to think about this it would be like pulling off a bandaid slowly. There is no explanation. AMPAS members do as they please. And it's their award so they are entitled to do as they please. But there really is no explanation for why Gaga was not nominated so it's best to stop trying to make sense of something that doesn't make sense. The bottom line is that she wasn't nominated for a critically praised performance in a huge worldwide box office hit. Millions of people of all ages put butts in seats and made HoG a box office hit in a pandemic because they enjoyed the movie and most of all loved Gaga's performance. In the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Russia – literally worldwide. Two of the movies with the best actress nominees are streamers (BTR and TLD) and the other three did not do well at the box office. All the movies had a low MC audience score - BTR 6.1 / TLD 6.1 / TEOTF 6.3 / Spencer 6.7 / PM 7.4. HoG has a MC user score of 8.0 – obviously because of Gaga. I do have a point. The Oscar nominations are always a mixed bag of movies liked by critics and/or movie goers. When Gaga was nominated for ASIB I wanted her to win. But I made a point of seeing the other best actress nominees and thought they were all fine performances. I've seen the best actress movies this year and wasn't excited about any of the performances or movies other than PM. My point I guess is that I'm not alone. The nominations this year are all drawn from adult dramas that few people saw. The only performance in the best actress award conversation that was widely praised and widely seen was overlooked. Gaga deserved the nomination and will be missed at the Oscars. The huge audience that saw HoG and loved her performance will be disappointed. It is what it is. Film twitter and pundits and their insults are of no consequence. If people didn't like HoG or her performance that's their opinion. Personal attacks just very badly reflect on them. Gaga is one of the most famous and admired women in the world. She is also known as an exceptionally nice person and a truly good person. Gaga is young and incredibly and uniquely talented. I'm very unhappy rn - trying not to dwell but instead dream about LG7 and more movies.
