Stewart been fighting since SAG snub (during Oscar voting period) and it paid off so bravo to her! yeah I'm not trying to shade Stewart-I really do like her. But she was popping up in random photos on film twitter all of the time at various dinners/screenings/etc. Julianne Moore also like hosted two screenings for her after the SAG snub and I think Rami Malek went out and did something similar. Again no one is going to admit it though and outside film twitter no one is aware. then again, outside of stan/film twitter bubble most people aren't even going to care that much about Gaga getting snubbed...most of the headlines include Leo's name. Personally, apart from Gaga, I've lost any interest in watching the ceremony, I hope Dune wins because it deserves it, otherwise whoever wins, congratulations but I don't really care. As a fan, I'm annoyed Gaga was snubbed but I really do think there were 10 worthy performances. And I think Renate (who won Cannes) arguably gave one of the best performances of the year (I...might have watched the film illegally online lol) and deserved a nod more than Kidman/Chastain...and yeah even Stewart. I'm almost more annoyed at Ruth being snubbed. She had the best reviews out of all of the supporting actress contenders, was in a well reviewed film that wasn't polarizing, etc.

Arloway 147
Do you guys think this snub will do anything for her future academy run? People have been saying Cher won for Moonstruck partly because she got the overdue votes from her last film.

Right now, I don't believe some of the journalists (the ones who focus on awards baity films) would be entirely fair to her. And I'm not trying to act like a deranged stan, many journalists/critics are professional, but this season..it's been clear that quite a few are not. I think if she does some non awards baity films, the critics will give her more of a fair shake (even if they wouldn't for awarsd baity films) and then when she comes back ...they may be more inclined to her. CatelynnMarie 4,406
I just woke up about an hour ago and only saw the results about ten minutes ago. Sad about the snub this time. Without bias, gaga really gave a great performance imo. I am hype for kstew getting a nom though. also big BIG grats on freddie getting a nom!! that got me super excited to see that! I've been wondering what went wrong this time...If the industry has issue giving her 2 consecutive noms, that won't explain how she did so well at SAG and Bafta, which are also industry awards. Especially Bafta, who's usually more high-brow than the Oscar. She did well in this film I think, but why don't Academy voters root for her this time if they can root for ASIB? Also NYFCC has no issue awarding her. So many confusion

I don’t think they care about giving the Oscar to someone because “they owe it” to them, they just give it to the best performance. Take a look at Glenn Close a couple of years ago. Even Frances McDormand last year and she had just won for Three Billboards.

What I've been saying here is that each time is harder and harder for an actor to get in the conversation for the Oscars. I know that this year only Kristen is new, however, all the other actresses are Oscar winners or at least seasoned actors. I do feel like it will be harder for Gaga to get nominated because she's not new and that is a disadvantage. She really needs to be really great to get a nomination and she needs to get more jobs in order to put her name out there. It's a long-run marathon for her to receive that kind of overdue vote you're talking about. It's not easy. Gaga needs to take small roles and be serious about acting. I don't know if fans are ready for her to go deep in her actor career path but that is what she must do.
