I don't care about acting awards anymore I just want the next film to actually be good and enjoyable to watch.

If there is someone to blame, it should be Ridley Scott and MGM. Ridley clearly paid little attention to this project compared to his other one, The Last Duel. The film was not received well because of its directing, editing, and script. The only thing that's been feeding this film til now is Gaga's acting. Industry people understand it better than we do.

MGM is being greedy for wanting all of their 3 actresses to get nominated. This is not how you campaign for a category. SPC focus on Penelope Cruz, and they did it. Searchlight focuses on Jessica Chastain, Amazon focus on Nicole Kidman, and Neon on Kristen Stewart. Gaga has been doing her own campaigning since the movie got out, but that's not what works for the Academy members.

THERE IS A REASON WHY MGM HASN'T HAD A BEST ACTRESS WINNER IN 35 YEARS.

Not really sure about MGM and the multiple actress campaign thing, but I do know they've been struggling money-wise. From what I understand, United Artists footed the bill for a lot of the initial Gucci promo (like the twitter emojis, tiktok stuff etc). I don't feel they neglected her, if anything I actually think she got quite a bit of focus if their socials are anything to go by. They're maybe just not the best of the best, nor the floppiest.

I do agree on Gucci maybe not getting the focus it could've got from Ridley & his team. He's prolific, so that's just a Ridley thing, but I do think if a different director treated it like it was their pet project, it would've come off better. His wife seemed far more invested. I remember the cinematographer saying he didn't really have a complete vision of how Gucci would look as they were shooting it:triggered: But anyway, I don't wish to play the blame game. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out. Was still a hit, as Miss Roar said, numbers don't lie. :bon:

After the firt rage I'm now starting to feel that this snub has something good in it. Better this than getting the hate for a nomination with 0 chances of winning-

She now has the sympathy of the GP on her side

Honestly, I was thinking the other day about how if she got in, twitter would be going crazy trying to cancel her. :deadbanana: They were all so up in arms about the out-of-context Mommy and Daddy quote from Variety.

I want her to act in an A24 film. Those are always the ****! I don't want us to think about acting awards at the first announcement of a new film like we always do. An indie film would put us in another mindset.

A lot of indies turn into Oscar bait though. I think to avoid that, it would be best to work with the truly wild, avant-garde types like Lars von Trier and David Lynch etc.

As much as Gaga deserved a nomination, so did Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga for Passing.

The ladies of Passing were the only other ones I was hoping would get in. :fatcat::bradley: God just doesn't want me to care about the Oscars this year, I guess.

I'm so disappointed. :( I even skipped dinner coz I lost my appetite.
I'm more affected by Gaga not being nominated here than my own life problems. (I applied to over 10 scholarships last year and got rejected by all 10 and I felt better than I do now) LOL :laughga: Like why? how? So funny, how us fans are more invested into our idol's life and career sometimes than our own.

But hey, not every project she does have to get an award or a nomination. I mean of coz, it would be amazing if she does but even if it doesn't, well...that's just life I think. We don't always get awards for every project we do at school, work, etc too.
