At the rate Spotify is going they’ll either have no one streaming anything on their service or not enough content to stream if more artists pull out. Let Taylor Swift pull her catalog and watch them go under overnight :ladyhaha:

All it'll take is one person from their top 100 most listened to pull out and it'll snowball uncontrollably from there :bear:

I'm keeping Spotify for the moment 'cause I don't stake my virtues on the music streaming platform I use and I thoroughly enjoy getting Hulu for free through them but I'm still watching all this happen like

If I'm forced onto Apple or something else 'cause they decided to die on the Joe Rogan hill, I won't even be mad

As much as he is evil and wrong, Rogan will only become richer and more powerful and famous from this. And so for this I might have to stan:partysick:

wtf is rumble

and did i read that properly or are they offering 100 millions as well?

r u telling me that all this mess is just giving him more business deals?

this is that guy from netflix all over again, the one that makes transphobic jokes i forgot the name

Rumble is a right leaning social media platform. They have deals with Trump for his social media platform as well.

Well, they don't have to silence him, they just have to cancel his show and stop doing business with him, it's not that complicated really.

They don't own his show, they just have exclusive distribution rights. They're sticking with him though because he spears the podcast segment of their service and letting him go means they wouldn't have a competitive edge because they don't have any other sort of exclusive deal with artists.

I'm generally against silencing people. A disclaimer should be enough

And before people start to attack me, it's very evident that there is censoring happening on social media in general, and in a socalled "democratic society" where we are allowed to debate and talk about various topics, this is very undemocratic. Joe Rogan does have a responsibility for fact checking since he has a big platform, but a temporary solution for that is simple: we used to have rating systems and disclaimers for movies/documentaries/etc in the past. Something like that should work.

Fact checking should really become the focus point of improving the internet, and not fact checking by a centralized institute, but by a decentralized organization.

Where is this information coming from? Did he actually vote for Trump? I think he just alluded to it, but he did say said he'd vote for Bernie...

never mind. he said he voted for Jo Jorgensen (i'm like who dat?) although he did said he would "rather vote for Trump than Biden", adding that "[Joe] don't think [Biden] can handle anything."

yeah, I get the point he's making, he basically has no faith in Biden to be an effective president. Doesn't mean he's a right wing conservative.

Unfortunately this type of reporting can cause a lot of unnecessary confusion and controversy. And this why I hate journalism these days, it's only sensationalism, there is zero nuance.

i agree with the CEO, we should have freedom

edit: i commented too soon without looking at the post, i thought it was just about the COVID vaccine misinformation which i was about to comment doesnt necessarily need artist to pull off their catalog but to correct the misinformation instead sorry, i disagree with the CEO now

I'm so sick of these kinds of people complaining about being "canceled" and "silenced" as if the words and actions you do don't have any consequences.

Freedom of speech means you're free to say anything you want but that doesn't mean you're immune to backlash. Like he can say the N word, like he has, but that doesn't mean everyone has to be okay with it - why is that such a hard concept to grasp? If you're a white man consistently saying the N word then maybe you should be silenced till you learn the true impact that word has.

he should be removed for spreading vaccine misinformation and distrust in vaccines and its that simple. disclaimers etc don't work because people will still listen and take his word regardless.

freedom of speech doesn't protect you when you're endangering lives.
