Tbh sometimes I wish BTW song wasn't released/didn't exist. I understand the sentiment behind it but MTN deserved to have it's success  and is the better song. BTW is corny and MTN is more honest and beautiful. The sadness, the triumph, the undercurrent of empowerment. Imagine if she released MTN as first and TEOG as 2nd for the album...she would've been considered the second coming of Christ! They would also have better MV's. Imagine the slayage!

I came here to say exactly this! 

She only performed it at Coachella because it was vital to the shows story line & was basically a huge apology for ARTPOP.

I don't know if it would have worked as a single, but it's one of her best songs imo. It's a crazy, chaotic piece of work. The only way you could come up with it is to have a touch of genius about you.

I really would’ve like it to be BTW - Scheiße - Hair - You and I - TEOG. 

Judas shouldn’t have been a single, it was the beginning of her “downfall”. It didn’t really pick up the steam from how hype-driven BTW was. MTN could’ve been a promo. As much as I love that song it was an acquired taste for GP. Although as a lead it was a sure hit. Any momentum lost, Scheiße would pick up. Scheiße meanwhile, all my GP friends love it and even memorized the gibberish part that many people think was detrimental to it being a hit.

Whatever trader you're referring to is straight up lying, the 2nd Born This Way video (aka that poorly edited collection of behind the scenes clips, fashion shootings and outtakes from the actual music video in black and white) is real, Scheiße is not. We've been around this fanbase for long enough to know that most of those leakers are full of **** and say stuff only to get attention.

Scheiße felt like a natural evolution of that signature "Gaga sound", like from Poker Face to Bad Romance, and then from BR to Scheiße. 

i do get that Interscope probably felt it was too big of a "risk" to pull off and wanted Judas instead. However, imo, Judas felt like it tried to force that "Gaga sound" I mentioned earlier.

It would've been a gamble releasing Scheiße, yes. But idk, I think it would've stuck with the GP and been one of her staple songs.

IMO the singles should have been Marry The Night, Born This Way, Schieße, You & I and TEOG. 

Sorry, I always hated Judas as a single (I'm ready for your stones ). With Judas being released on Easter weekend and the overexposure of Gaga beginning to happen, that was the very start of the 'gaga is over' brigade.

Yeah, maybe a shorter edit for radios since the "German" part at the beginning is maybe too long for the GP, but it totally deserved to be a single and to have an MV with the original killer choreo (not the Coachella/JWT one). It still is my favourite Gaga song for a reason.

I do love that all these years later, the fanbase still knows the single rollout for BTW was pure BS.

However, BTW was the perfect lead. It needed to be a hit to push the intention, and a lead for her at that point would always be a big hit.

Promo singles killed the campaign. 

They should've followed BTW with TEOG as a single with video. Judas was too controversial but whatever.

MTN should've never been lead. Those verses, girl, nu'uh.

This haunts me more than the so called ARTPOP tragedy. How can the biggest pop star in the world mess up so bad in her single choices? She just showed that she was messy (or boring doing the same crazy thing) to the public. They got tired of it. The singles I believe we're fine but the order is BAD! If I was her I would've gone like this: 

1. BTW (02/11) -to get the message across. 

2. YAI (05/11)- to shock and get that hit ballad after 8 dance tracks. This would've been HUGE. Not so much as a later single. 

3. Judas (07/11)- to bring back TFMga and please Europe fans/ww. No religious mv pleez . Do the opposite of Alejandro. Summer hit! 

4. MTN (11/111)- Great winter/fall track! The melancholic nature wouldn't be popular but it would snatch top 20! 

5. TEOG (02/12)- first performed at NYE and then at the 2012 Grammys. It's the last single and the MV revolves around end of the world concept with Gaga dancing and running around the Brooklyn bridge. Milk it throughput the year for the tour!
